About The Role
This role will be the primary contact for a large customer, and they will spend a portion of their time directly interacting with the customer. Strong interpersonal skills will be required as the customer facing relationship is key to success.
As a Business Analyst of Operations III at Uber Freight, you will identify trends and defects, make decisions, take quick action, and measure impact with a high degree of confidence in our data as well as seamless access to it. Achieving this goal will allow Uber Freight to unlock substantial value across the entire business. You’ll work closely alongside our existing community of analysts and engineers to map our data & analytics environment, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver on those opportunities. You’ll also work closely with our community of users (including front-line operators, managers and leaders, and even customers) to understand their use cases and then build the analytics tools in Tableau, Google Big Query, GCP, SQL, Python, or proprietary Uber tools to satisfy those use cases.

What The Candidate Will Do
- Work closely with data engineers to understand how raw data is collected, what it means, how/where it is stored, etc. and make all of the highly technical information on the back-end easy to understand and access for the analyst community
- Build and own the company-wide repository for metric logic across growth, margin, service, and efficiency metrics across the business; working closely with the analyst teams (who have deep expertise in their respective domains) to define and refine that metric logic over time to produce the most accurate results
- Conduct user research with key segments (e.g., front-line ops, exec leadership, functional managers, specific external customers) to identify the most critical opportunities to better surface information; lead the development of the reporting tools to fill those needs by leveraging Tableau, Google Big Query, GCP, SQL, Python, or the proprietary Uber tool that is best suited for the use case
- Perform deep-dive analysis to unpack insights and recommend solutions to top-of-mind problems the business is facing; build and deliver the solutions to those problems
- Work directly with Leadership team to provide insight
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 4 years of related experience
- Strong Interpersonal Communication skills
- Expert technical proficiency in SQL as well as big-data SQL engines and relational database management systems (Hive, Presto, Postgres)
- High technical proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP, Big Query)
- Expert technical proficiency in Tableau
- Strong technical proficiency in common analytics and reporting tools (Python, Google Sheets / Excel, Mixpanel, Looker)
