The Atlantic 10 Conference seeks a detail-oriented, strategic and collaborative Director of Finance to oversee all financial operations of the Conference office. The successful candidate will be responsible for budget development, financial reporting, audit compliance, and fiscal forecasting in alignment with NCAA regulations and best practices in nonprofit and collegiate athletics governance. Core competencies include discretion and integrity with sensitive financial data, superior analytical and spreadsheet modeling skills; clear communicator capable of presenting financial data to non-financial audiences.
JOB SUMMARY The Director of Finance is responsible for financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting and other office management responsibilities as well as oversight of office IT services. This position is a member of the leadership team and works with all departmental areas to ensure the proper policies for budget development. Responsibilities include non-traditional working hours and days pending event/meeting/championship schedules.

Finance
- Develop, manage and reconcile the annual operating budget.
- Purchase Orders – Review, process and monitor the status.
- Accounts Payable - Collect, manage, reconcile, and pay invoices.
- Accounts Receivable – Prepare invoices, track collections and reconciliation.
- General Ledger entries, end of month reconciliations.
- Credit card statement reconciliation.
- Oversee the credit card management system for Conference employees.
- Collect checks and deliver deposits to the bank.
- Manage contracts with third parties and oversee renewal and negotiation as needed.
- Develop monthly and annual financial statements, including cost analysis of goods and services.
- Develop and maintain financial reporting calendar.
- Coordinate the annual external audit, including preparation of workpapers, compliance documentation and NCAA reporting.
- Manage records retention in accordance with document retention and destruction policy.
- Communicate with member institutions regarding NCAA year-end reporting, Atlantic 10 financial survey process, basketball officials process and championship reimbursements.
- Coordinate the review of hotel/venue contracts and selection of hotels for championship needs.
- Serve as liaison to institutional CFOs and finance staff across the 14 member schools.
- Maintain strong internal controls, risk assessment protocols, and vendor agreements.
- Develop monthly and annual Finance Committee documents and reports.
- Provide support to all staff to guide and ensure that they are knowledgeable and comfortable operating within budget guidelines and financial policies.
- Advise Commissioner and senior staff concerning financial matters.
- Coordinate the orientation and training for new staff on all financial related functions.
- Oversight of Conference Insurance Program.
- Oversight of IT with third party vendor and in-office support when appropriate.
- Oversee and manage office supplies and shipping efficiencies.
- Operate within assigned budget, following all A-10 business operational procedures.
- Develop and cultivate positive working relationships with internal and external constituents.
- Other duties as assigned by the Commissioner.

Required Experience
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive finance or accounting experience, ideally within collegiate athletics, higher education or nonprofit sectors.
- Demonstrated leadership in budget oversight of $10M+ operating budgets.
- Prior experience working with auditors and board-level stakeholders.
- Proven record of streamlining operations, optimizing financial systems and maintaining regulatory compliance.
- NCAA Division I conference or institution experience.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks.
- CPA or CMA designation.
