The Association of Former Students engages and inspires the Aggie Network for Texas A&M University in perpetuating the Aggie Spirit. Through our Annual Fund, as well as other revenue streams, we provide scholarships, endowments, emergency student loans, and awards for faculty. Our newest colleague will join our Communications Division's Front Desk & Reception team in advancing our mission through dedicated support that ensures that visitors to The Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center receive a warm welcome and experience a personal connection to their university experience.

Essential Functions

  • Greet and welcome guests.
  • Exhibit strong verbal communication skills.
  • Answer a multi-line phone system.
  • Accurately handle inquiries from visitors and callers.
  • Be punctual and dependable.
  • Maintain security by following procedures

ROUTINE DUTIES

Reporting To The Front Desk Supervisor, Serve As The Initial Point Of Contact For Most Of Our Customers While Delivering a Positive And Professional Impression In Every Interaction

  • Communicate with all visitors in a respectful way.
  • Answer multi-line telephones, check voicemail and email.
  • Greet guests to the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center with enthusiasm and a helpful demeanor.
  • Multitask well in a fast-paced environment, always remaining calm under pressure.
  • Evaluate customer requests and provide correct information or accurately direct customers to the individuals who can assist them.
  • Display exceptional customer service.
  • Remain organized and aware of priorities.
  • Exercise discretion, respect the privacy and security of all conversations.
  • Maintain confidentiality with physical documents that may come to the Reception Desk.
  • Respond to callers and visitors with friendly demeanor and proper etiquette.
  • Ensure the reception area and Flores Hall are always ready to receive visitors, contacting the Facilities Department when needed.
  • Support other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EMPLOYEES OF THE ASSOCIATION OF FORMER STUDENTS

  • Participate in various Association-wide activities such as engagement and fundraising goals, internal event teams, task committees, attending gameday receptions, Distinguished Alumni Gala and other external events as required.
  • Serve as an ambassador by meeting our Team Expectations, fostering relationships with students and other constituents of Texas A&M.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required: Ability to operate multi-line phone system. Exposure and basic understanding of MS Office Suite. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work under time pressure and respond appropriately and professionally. Strong multi-tasking, time management, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Capacity Requirements

Ability to sit or stand for long periods and carry objects up to 10 pounds. The ability to work at a desk with frequent use of keyboard and monitor for an extended period. The ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another. Sufficient near-vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, hand-written forms, and printed on paper. Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone. Adequate manual dexterity to operate a phone and computer keyboard and handle paper documents. Education, Training & Experience

Required: Current student enrolled at Texas A&M University pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree.

Preferred: Previous office, reception or hospitality experience.
