Provides Family Support/Case Management and Differential Response services for at-risk families, foster/adopt and relative caregivers with children aged birth through eighteen (0-18) years and those who are in crisis, including non-minor dependents ages 18 to 21, who are being served by child welfare or probation agencies and who are under the jurisdiction of the Orange County Juvenile Court; homeless families, unaccompanied homeless youth, and those families at-risk of homelessness; military families; and persons with disabilities. Responsibilities include assessing families' needs; providing support and crisis intervention; teaching and empowering families to access community resources and strengthen problem solving skills needed for the safety and stability of their children. Administers assessment tools during client intakes, and case closures, and presents cases at weekly Case Management meetings. Coordinates with County senior social workers and multiple service providers to prevent abuse and out of home placement care. The Family Support Advocate (FSA) is located at the Family Resource Center (FRC) and provides support, referrals, advocacy, case management, and strengths-based assessments to families in their homes, at the office, in schools, or other locations in the community.

Job Responsibilities
- Respond to referrals from the general community, community organizations, schools, and Differential Response senior social workers (SSW) from the Social Service Agency, Child and Family Services for families identified as being at-risk of child abuse or neglect
- The FSA will conduct a comprehensive assessment and subsequent assessments as needed.
- Collaborate with the Case Management Team and SSWs to develop an individualized service plan.
- Promote knowledge of, and provide linkages to resources, services, and opportunities to improve self-sufficiency; and support families in following through with recommended services. Provide in-home services, as needed, to address positive parenting skills, discipline, child development, and child health and safety.
- Attends and presents cases to the Case Management Team
- Administer evaluation tools as required by this agency and the funder
- Identifies appropriate community resources ensuring they are culturally and linguistically appropriate
- Coordinate service delivery with other service providers
- Advocate for clients as needed, i.e., with CalWORKs, MediCal, schools, courts, and other systems that clients interact with
- Attends community meetings and/or agency/collaboration meetings/trainings assigned
- Maintains files, logs, charts, and other records in audit condition as required by agency or funding source
- Supports agency initiatives related to Trauma Informed, Resilience-Oriented Care (TIROC) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
- Takes the lead in the planning and execution of FRC events, Life Skills workshops, and special projects
- Coordinates and maintain communication with key stakeholders, including funder
- Networks to develop/maintain high quality agency community profile
- Takes leadership in the facilitation of client basic needs assessment and linkage to emergency assistance resources
- Produces high-quality, family support documentation and client success outcomes
- Performs FSA services during FRC operating hours, including two evenings until 8 PM
- Maintains confidentiality in matters of agency operations, personnel, and clients
- Maintains positive communications with all agency staff, clients and visitors
- Supports existing agency policies, principles, and mission
- Exercises good judgment in performance of duties and responsibilities
- Other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, social work or related field from an accredited university and a minimum of 1 year experience in working with children and families in crisis situations
- or A minimum of 3 years' experience in working with children and families in crisis situations, i.e., domestic violence, child abuse, homelessness
- Knowledge of child development and community resources desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work with a multicultural environment and a diverse socioeconomic and multicultural/ethnic population with sensitivity and respect
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Good organizational, follow-through skills, and excellent verbal/written communication skills
- Valid California "Class C" driver's license required
- Bilingual English/Spanish required with proficiency in English required
