Green Sage Cafe is looking for an experienced, strategic, and mission-aligned Director of Operations to lead the daily and long-term success of our three Asheville locations, along with our Juicery and Commissary departments. This is a unique opportunity for a values-driven leader to make a significant impact in a company committed to health, sustainability, and community.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

You will oversee the daily operations of multiple restaurant units while ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and values, collaborating with ownership and the Home Office to develop strategic plans, and holding regular meetings with General Managers to assess performance, share best practices, and solve challenges.

People & Culture

You will lead efforts to hire, train, mentor, and retain high-performing teams, foster a culture of support and accountability, and conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and development planning with leadership team members.

Operational Excellence

You will ensure consistency in quality, service, and cleanliness across all locations, manage facility maintenance and equipment needs, and oversee scheduling, labor efficiency, and compliance with health and safety standards.

Financial & Business Management

You will collaborate with the finance department on budgeting and forecasting, monitor and control food, labor, and operating costs, and analyze financial reports to identify trends and improve profitability.

Marketing & Brand Development

You will work with the Home Office to develop and implement marketing strategies and support community engagement initiatives to strengthen brand awareness and customer loyalty.

Training & Development

You will oversee onboarding and training programs, maintain up-to-date and standardized training materials, and identify and promote internal talent into leadership roles.

Additional Role Summary

The Director of Restaurant Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for aligning strategic vision with day-to-day operations. This role focuses on driving operational excellence, enhancing profitability, and maintaining high standards across all touchpoints of the business.

Key Functional Areas:

  • Financial planning, budgeting, and KPI monitoring
  • Operational process improvement and systems integration
  • Staff leadership, training, and succession planning
  • Menu development in collaboration with culinary leadership
  • Customer service consistency and guest satisfaction
  • Vendor management and supply chain efficiency
  • Technology utilization (POS, inventory, analytics tools)
  • Legal compliance and safety regulation adherence


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of multi-unit operations leadership experience
  • Strong background in financial oversight and team management
  • Experience in fast-casual, natural foods, or catering preferred
  • Proven success in cost control and performance improvement
  • Excellent communicator with strong organizational skills
  • Passion for sustainable, health-focused dining
