Library IT Technician (Central Library)

JOB REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must submit BOTH a resume and a cover
letter to be considered. The Library IT Technician, under the guidance
of the Library\'s IT Manager, provides general technical support
services for the Brown County Library\'s devices and applications. This
includes basic installation, troubleshooting, repair, upgrade, and
maintenance of the technology used throughout Brown County Library.
Typical Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Tuesdays: 11:30 am - 5:00 pm With occasional evenings and weekends
Essential Duties 1. Provide support for library technology a. Perform
basic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of library devices
(hardware and/or software) including preventative maintenance, such as
software patching b. Implement, upgrade, and support systems as directed
by the IT Manager c. Implement installation plans and set up software,
applications, PC\'s, printers, mobile devices, etc. with direction from
the IT Manager d. Complete operational documentation to track status on
projects e. Respond to service tickets and reach out to appropriate team
members when necessary to achieve resolution f. Maintain inventory of
library hardware 2. Assist with planning, developing, and conducting
technology training a. Chair the Library\'s Technology Team, with the
support of the IT Manager b. Working with the IT Manager, lead the
Technology Team in the creation of technology related documentation and
training c. Assist in the planning and implementation of new technology
tools throughout the library 3. Support the mission and strategic goals
of the Library a. Serve on system-wide committees as assigned or
required b. Maintain professional knowledge through workshops,
membership in professional organizations, and reading current literature
c. Suggest needs and possible resources to Manager and assist with
preparation of budget and Friends of the Brown County Library requests
d. In the absence of manager, provide guidance and direction e. Perform
other related duties as needed or assigned \*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE
AND QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of computers,
tablets, mobile operating systems, printers, and other library related
technologies 2. Effectively maintain, repair, and troubleshoot software
and hardware 3. Basic knowledge of Perl, JavaScript, SQL, CSS, and
WordPress, with the ability to edit existing code 4. Knowledge of public
library principles, practices, and techniques 5. Effectively administer
Brown County Library policies and procedures 6. Detailed knowledge of
library materials and access 7. Assess users\' needs and provide
consistently exceptional customer service 8. Identify problems and take
action to develop appropriate solutions or refer to a supervisor when
necessary 9. Make presentations to varying sized groups 10. Maintain a
calm demeanor under stressful or unsettling circumstances 11.
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills 12. Represent
the Library in a responsible, professional and trustworthy manner 13.
Establish and maintain cooperative and courteous working relationships
with staff and a diverse customer base 14. Work independently with
minimal supervision 15. Appropriately multitask and prioritize 16. Work
efficiently while paying close attention to detail 17. Follow detailed
verbal and written instructions 18. Meet the flexible scheduling needs
of the Library 19. Adapt to changes in the work environment 20.
Effectively use general office equipment and software, including but not
limited to computer, printer, photocopier, telephone, cash drawer,
audio-visual equipment, word processing, and email 21. Demonstrate
proficient technology skills, including but not limited to working with
