Job Summary
The IT Security Manager is a working manager responsible for overseeing the organization’s cybersecurity operations and Microsoft 365 administration. This role supervises the Cyber Threat Analyst and 365 Administrator while actively contributing to security monitoring, incident response, and system hardening. The IT Security Manager ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems and data, and plays a key role in policy development, compliance, and risk mitigation.
Essential Functions
Supervisory Responsibilities
Education/Relevant Experience: Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience, or associate’s degree and three (3) years’ experience, or high school diploma or GED and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience.
2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
Preferred Education Requirements
Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or Microsoft Security certifications.
Experience in tribal health, public sector, or regulated environments.
Preferred Experience Requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration, SIEM tools, and security frameworks.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervise the Cyber Threat Analyst and 365 Administrator, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and workload prioritization.
- Coordinate team efforts to ensure timely response to security incidents and system updates.
- Foster a proactive and collaborative security culture across the IT department.
- Monitor and respond to cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.
- Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 security configurations, user access, and compliance settings.
- Conduct regular audits, penetration tests, and risk assessments.
- Implement and maintain endpoint protection, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Assist with email security, phishing prevention, and data loss prevention (DLP) strategies.
- Develop and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, NIST, and other applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with IT leadership to align security initiatives with organizational goals.
- Maintain documentation for security protocols, incident response plans, and system configurations.
- Participate in IT planning, budgeting, and procurement related to security tools and services.
