General Summary
The Toledo Clinic Support Staff Supervisor is responsible for the customer service and processing staff. They are also responsible for the productivity, quality, service, strategic planning, continuous improvement and staff development of support staff employees with strict adherence to regulatory requirements. The Support Staff Supervisor is responsible for technical oversight and/or direct supervision of support staff and maintenance of policies, procedure, and quality control practices. The Support Staff Supervisor provides ongoing feedback, coaching/mentoring, and promotes continuing education. Recommends pay adjustments and administers performance reviews within established time frames.

Higher education in Business management or Health Science.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for all daily support staff operations, including support staff scheduling.
- Responsible for support staff training, coaching, supervision and development
- Monitor all on-going performance of support staff employees, provides corrective action and counseling as required. Performs six month and annual employee performance appraisals per Clinic or Laboratory policy.
- Works with Purchasing Assistant to monitor inventory.
- Where applicable, ensures all Federal, State & Local licensure requirements are met, working with the Toledo Clinic QA and Laboratory Medical Director.
- Participates on process improvement teams or other initiatives to meet management objectives.
- Participates in the search, interviewing and hiring of new well qualified support staff.
- Compendium Quality Control.
- Billing Trailers.
- CAP Readiness for support staff
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of supervisory experience in healthcare.
- Knows, understands and adheres to all laboratory, Clinic and/or OSHA safety standards.
- Maintains a safe and clean environment by daily cleaning, emptying trash containers, and cleaning up spills and all other housekeeping duties necessary to sustain an appropriate work area.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosis coding and laboratory CPT coding.
- Supports staffing by being able to work extended or altered hours when necessary.
- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Adheres to clinic’s policies and procedures.
