Overview
This newly created CFO role offers a unique opportunity to shape the financial future of a profitable, private equity-backed manufacturing business following a recent merger. As a key partner to the CEO, you will lead the integration of operations and systems, enhance financial reporting, build a value-added finance function and capital strategy while supporting future M&A activity. Ideal candidates will bring deep FP&A and manufacturing finance experience, with a track record of building and scaling finance functions in dynamic environments. Success requires more than technical expertise. You must be a humble, high-integrity “player-coach” who can mentor a lean team, simplify complex financials, and drive cross-functional alignment in a fast-paced, values-driven business.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic financial leadership and serve as a key member of the leadership team, contributing to the overall direction and performance of the organization.
- Mentor and develop a lean accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and support the refinement of organizational structure to improve financial and operational alignment.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and presentation of monthly financial reporting packages, ensure historical reports are accurate and consistent.
- Lead the year-end audit process, maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Direct the integration of ERP systems to improve reporting efficiency, and accuracy.
- Strengthen inventory tracking and cost accounting processes to enhance the accuracy of COGS reporting and improve margin visibility.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes to deliver greater P&L transparency and forward-looking insights for leadership and investors.
- Evaluate and manage capital strategies, including cash management, debt structuring, lease financing, and project-level funding.
- Support strategic growth initiatives, including organic expansion and mergers and acquisitions, by providing financial modeling, due diligence, and integration support.
Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in finance or accounting, preferably within manufacturing environment, exposure to agriculture-related industries a plus
- Strong communicator with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated success mentoring teams in a high-accountability, fast-paced environment
- Experience integrating ERP systems
- Deep knowledge of GAAP financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes
- Hands-on experience with inventory, cost accounting, and margin analysis
- Track record of leading financial planning and capital strategy
- Comfort operating in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment
