This position reports to the Production Manager and provides engineering

assistance to improve operational safety, quality, capability, efficiency, cost

reductions, and reliability improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Safety & Environmental

Implement, support, maintain, promote and

participate in plant safety and environmental policies and programs to

achieve department safety and environmental goals; manage incident

reporting and follow-up as assigned.

  • Operations

Monitor and analyze day-to-day operating conditions;

coordinate corrective actions when necessary. Assist in the production

planning process to meet division inventory and production plans.

  • Quality

Monitor product quality and implement recommendations to ensure quality specifications are met; participate in internal/external quality audits. Coordinate review of non-conforming raw materials, in process materials, and final product.

  • Quality Improvement

Be a champion for continuous quality improvement.

  • Materials

Assist in assessing and coordinating raw material requirements; ensure incoming raw materials and supplies conform to requirements and that work in-process is sampled, tested, and verified as meeting specific

  • Reliability

Monitor and identify reliability issues and champion reliability

improvement projects. Develop and implement process and facility

improvements to increase the safe and efficient operation of the department,

including testing of new equipment, materials, or procedures to improve

plant processes requirements prior to shipping.

  • Project

Execution of small capital projects and process studies; responsible for process changes via programs or capital project execution.

  • Team Support

Support the Production Manager in ensuring that Operations

personnel are aligned, energized, and focused on business objectives,

including implementation of programs designed to increase organizational

effectiveness. This role will assist in issuing daily operating instructions for

the department and provide relief for the Production Manager in his/her

absence.

  • Challenges

This position will need to influence others to obtain understanding, support and cooperation from plant personnel on a variety of process projects.

The Production Engineer may be challenged to troubleshoot to achieve quality, reliability and efficiency targets, and to develop cost reduction projects without sacrificing quality.

  • Position Scope

This position will have the latitude to be designated to take over the Production Manager’s position during his/her absence. When designated, this role will have the same scope as the Production Manager.

The Production Engineer has the scope to plan and order materials to meet production demands, manage projects and make decisions in line with engineering specifications, and discuss shipments and problems directly with customer service

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Experience

  • 5 years minimum , 7-10 yrs preferred of experience in process or production engineering
  • Thorough understanding in applying a broad range of principles and theories within the technical field; significant knowledge of chemical process unit operations.
  • Understanding of economic factors affecting project assignment areas.
  • Experienced in computer applications – especially technical/engineering/modeling software.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Action-oriented, able to learn on the fly, and skilled at problem solving.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills, including written communications
