JOB SUMMARY: The Product Owner is a detail-oriented and customer-focused leader responsible for defining feature requirements, prioritizing the product backlog, creating and communicating the roadmap for agile teams, and ensuring the development team delivers high-quality features that align with business goals and customer needs.

Job Roles And Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Ownership

  • Partner with the Product Manager to define and evolve the product vision, OKRs, and roadmap for key components, especially those aligned to analytics, engagement, and employer decision-making.
  • Translate strategic initiatives into prioritized feature and capability backlogs, balancing customer value, technical feasibility, and organizational readiness.
  • Actively gather feedback from users, product analytics, and stakeholders to refine priorities and guide iteration.

Agile Execution & Team Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary content authority for at least two Agile teams, managing the team backlog and ensuring clarity of purpose and user value.
  • Collaborate with Tech Leads and Architects to ensure backlog refinement incorporates technical dependencies, data architecture, and platform resilience.
  • Participate in and contribute to PI Planning and SAFe ceremonies, including Feature Breakdown, Dependency Mapping, and Iteration Planning.
  • Resolve cross-team dependencies by working with other Product Owners, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), and Scrum Masters.

User Focus & Feedback Loops

  • Partner with Business Analysts to decompose features into actionable user stories using BDD or similar practices.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer in development cycles and ensure end-to-end validation of delivered features against defined outcomes.
  • Coordinate with Training and Operations teams to support product readiness, documentation, and change enablement.

JOB SCOPE: Incumbent works under minimal direction and uses independent judgment to identify issues, trends & problems and recommend action plans and evaluate results on initiatives that may not be clearly defined and are large in scope. Work is varied and complex, requiring the individual to use a broad range of knowledge gained through experience. The position works with internal and external sources to complete objectives, keeping the needs of external and internal customers as a priority when making decisions and taking action.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, And Training)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 8+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years as a Product Owner or Product Manager working with Agile development teams; experience with SAFe and distributed teams preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in owning data- or analytics-centric products, especially in healthcare, HR tech, or enterprise SaaS environments.
  • Experience working across multiple Agile teams and resolving cross-team dependencies.
  • Strong proficiency with Jira, Confluence, and product documentation tools.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and communicate clearly under ambiguity and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to build strong, trust-based relationships with engineers, analysts, designers, and business stakeholders.

Preferred

  • SAFe POPM certification, or equivalent Agile PO training.
  • Familiarity with data modeling, business intelligence tools, or data governance concepts.
  • Understanding of employer group dynamics, benefits design, or healthcare claims workflows.
  • Experience in outcome-oriented product development (e.g., OKRs, product analytics).
  • Working knowledge of visual tools like Miro for process or feature design.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $90-$115K. Specific offers take into account a candidate’s education, experience and skills, as well as the candidate’s work location and internal equity. This position is also eligible for health insurance, 401k and bonus opportunity.
