Description

TITLE:

Wellness Coordinator II

Objective

Empower families with the tools, resources, and experiences necessary to cultivate holistic wellness in alignment with Stars’ mission, vision, and desired outcomes.

Scope

The Wellness Coordinator II serves as a bridge between students, families, and community wellness resources—building trusted relationships and fostering a culture of care that supports every family’s pathway to well-being.

Classification

Part-time, Non-Exempt

Relationships

  • Reports directly to the Wellness Manager
  • May supervise one AmeriCorps VISTA or intern as assigned
  • Collaborates with Stars program staff to ensure students are equipped to thrive
  • Works closely with the Wellness Assistant and Wellness Manager as part of the wellness team
  • Partners with internal teams and external stakeholders to support family and community wellness

Hours

  • 20–25 hours per week
  • Occasional evening and weekend events required
  • Flexible administrative hours

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience engaging with social, emotional, psychological, fitness, and wellness ecosystems
  • Strong ability to build trust and community among youth and families
  • A deep alignment with Stars’ mission, vision, and core values
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • High integrity, self-direction, and a strong commitment to excellence
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms) and drafting Memorandums of Understanding
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Monday.com)
  • Certification in fitness, wellness, or nutrition is strongly preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Wellness Coordinator Will Work In Collaboration With

  • Local universities and colleges
  • Faith-based institutions and ministry leaders
  • Stars staff, volunteers, and parents
  • Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) partners
  • Community-based organizations and wellness collaborators

Wellness

  • Deliver accessible wellness information and programming to help families make informed, healthy lifestyle choices
  • Design and lead wellness activities through the lens of self-care, us-care, and movement
  • Organize trauma-informed wellness events and experiences for fire-impacted and stress-affected community members
  • Integrate play, rest, and regulation strategies into staff care days and gatherings
  • Connect Stars’ food distribution efforts to family nutrition and wellness education
  • Coordinate fitness-based opportunities for families to build physical strength and endurance
  • Partner on educational sessions focused on nutrition, exercise, and preventative care

Faith

  • Plan seasonal or quarterly family-friendly events rooted in the Christian liturgical calendar (e.g., Advent, Lent, Easter)
  • Facilitate inclusive wellness events that promote spiritual well-being and connection
  • Collaborate with churches and faith-based partners to connect families with local opportunities for encouragement, movement, and belonging

Environmental Wellness

  • Help families create healthy, safe, and toxin-free living environments
  • Promote environmental stewardship and the healing of local ecosystems, especially in fire-impacted communities
  • Co-lead community listening sessions and planning circles to co-design goals for hazard-free homes and green spaces
  • Distribute educational materials and opportunities that align with holistic environmental health

Emotional Wellness

  • Facilitate opportunities for families to explore emotional intelligence, expression, and healing
  • Support Stars’ mental health collaborations and refer families to trusted providers
  • Participate in integrated wellness efforts alongside Stars’ Mental Health team when joint initiatives arise

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

  • Physical ability to work around children including sitting, standing, kneeling and climbing stairs for extended periods of time.
  • Work at a computer, requiring the ability to send and receive information with necessary optical, auditory, and manual dexterity.
  • Use a keyboard and mouse to enter, retrieve or transfer words or data information and/or move from screen to screen on the computer to view information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comprehend and speak English.
  • Display the reading skills necessary to proofread written material.
