IT Project Manager

We are looking for a project manager who can lead and manage IT projects of varying complexity across multiple domains and functions. The project manager will be responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing IT projects, while ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder expectations. The project manager will also be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices and processes.
The position will report to the Director of IT Plan & Build and can be based in either the Grand Rapids, MI or Minneapolis (New Hope), MN area.
Note: This position can be based at our Minneapolis, MN or Grand Rapids, MI location. A hybrid workplace arrangement is available for this position, requiring 2-3 days per week in the office and allowing for 2-3 days per week working remotely if desired.
Job duties:
- Manage the full project lifecycle, from initiation to closure, for IT projects of various sizes, scopes, and complexities.
- Define and document project objectives, scope, deliverables, assumptions, risks, issues, dependencies, and resource requirements.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and status reports, using SmartSheet and other tools as appropriate.
- Coordinate and communicate with project sponsors, stakeholders, team members, vendors, and other internal and external parties, ensuring clear and timely information flow and issue resolution.
- Track and measure project performance, using appropriate metrics and KPIs, and report on project progress, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Manage project changes, risks, issues, and dependencies, and implement corrective actions and mitigation strategies as needed.
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and comply with organizational policies and procedures.
- Facilitate project reviews, lessons learned, and post-implementation audits, and document and share best practices and recommendations.
- Stay current on emerging trends and technologies in IT project management and apply them to improve project outcomes and efficiency.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business administration, or related field; or appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Three or more (3+) years of experience in IT project management, preferably in a matrixed organization and across multiple domains and functions.
- Proven track record of delivering IT projects on time, on budget, and on scope, with high customer satisfaction and business value.
- Demonstrated expertise in IT project management methodologies, tools, and best practices, such as PMBOK, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.
- Proficiency in project management software (such as SmartSheet), as well as MS Office, MS Project, Visio, etc.
- Strong knowledge of various IT areas like ERP, Applications, SaaS, Infrastructure, and Network; and their integration with business processes such as Finance, Customer Service, Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse, etc.
- Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with different levels of stakeholders and audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to handle ambiguity and complexity.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Team player, with the ability to work together with diverse teams and personalities.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience using SmartSheet project management software
- Experience with SAP
- Certification in project management, such as PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, etc.
