TYPE OF POSITION: Classified Staff - Bookkeeper
REPORTS TO: Building Principal or Assistant Superintendent
POSITION PURPOSE: Keeps complete set of records of financial transactions of the school organization by performing the following duties.

EVALUATION: Evaluation of performance on this job will be in accordance with the provisions in the policy handbook.

POSITION PURPOSE: Keeps complete set of records of financial transactions of the school organization by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Verifies and enters details of transactions as they occur in account and cash journals from items such as deposit slips, receipts invoices, check stubs, and requisitions.
- Verifies all moneys.
- Summarizes details on separate ledgers, using computer or calculating machine and transfers data to general ledger.
- Balances books and compiles reports to show statistics, such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to operation of school.
- Counts vending money and enters deposits in receipt book and computer.
- Inventories and orders pop for vending machine.
- Prepares for audit by State Board of Accounts annually.
- Receipts and runs summary reports of textbook rental. Also follows through on unpaid book rental.
- Operates and does ordering of supplies for the bookstore.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma.
- One-year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
- Ability to plan and organize; good work habits.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, and interest.
- Ability to use machines, tools, and equipment of those commonly associated with this type of work, i.e., intercom, telephone equipment, computer, typewriter, adding machine, and entry books, etc..
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Other qualifications that the School Board may require.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also have to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally (manage vending machines).
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position.
