The District Director is an experienced leader who will serve as the Director of Operations for both Chicago gyms. The District Director is responsible for ensuring that both gyms have a thriving community, are exceeding KPIs, accomplishing goals, and most importantly, their teams are empowered and have ownership over their roles and responsibilities. The District Director does this by supporting their local team directly.

The District Director will report to the regional Senior Director. They will partner to ensure established gym-specific goals that will help us deliver on our purpose of empowering personal transformation and inspiring social and environmental impact. The District Director will partner with the Senior Director and follow the Senior Director’s leadership to strive for alignment across the region.

The ideal candidate will have a balance of great customer service and leadership skills, as well as excellent administrative abilities. Proven success in developing and managing a high performing teams in a fast-paced environment and the ability to see the big picture and understand if a gym is operating smoothly and meeting targets. We’re looking for someone who can lead a highly collaborative team across the market.  

District DIRECTOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership and direction to all climbing center staff at both locations in alignment with our mission, vision and values.
  • Recruits, hires, develops, and mentors service-oriented, collaborative, passionate team made up of gym leaders, and operational staff including yoga and fitness staff at both locations.
  • Oversees facility operations including maintenance, cleanliness, routes, retail, programming, and community events at both locations.
  • Manages gyms to meet financial and operational targets, including using financial statements and operational reporting to inform decision making. Initiates and implements processes, protocols, and procedures to ensure the gyms run in an effective and service-oriented manner.
  • Supports development of business acumen in local gyms management teams, enabling data-driven decision-making across gym departments at both locations.
  • Ensures the teams are supported and the gyms run smoothly: all administrative needs are met, all staff are well-trained, and our members and guests’ experiences are awesome at both locations.
  • Works proactively to build relationships in the community to drive membership growth and retention at both locations.
  • Leads by example and participates in front of house gym operations as part of a rotating management schedule.
  • Schedule & Presence
  • Ability to provide consistent presence in gyms by working from gyms daily.
  • Largely works a weekday schedule, including regular presence during weeknight peak hours, with a rotation of weekend presence. Ability to flex schedule to attend events or gym needs.
  • Uses the gyms regularly for climbing, working out and yoga, including during peak hours such as weeknights and weekends.

Job Requirements

  • Experience running a fast-paced, high-volume business, with a large, multi-departmental team.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service abilities.
  • Embodies the mission, vision and values and able to foster this sense of culture in all staff.
  • Ability to build a strong staff community, hold accountability to expectations, and develop future leaders.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively juggle competing priorities.
  • Ability to solve problems and handle difficult situations with sound judgment.
  • Proficient in organizational tools such as web-based applications, MS Office and POS tools.
  • Passionate individual who is eager to integrate and build the local climbing community.

Additional Information

  • The pay range for this position starts at $105,000 and may increase based on experience and qualifications
