Join us as a Patient Navigator specializing in imaging and Hereditary Cancer Testing. Hiring two different positions, position will be based in the Glendale and/or Avondale, AZ surrounding areas. Our Patient Navigators play a pivotal role in collaborating with our clinical team to provide an exceptional patient experience to a diverse patient population in an outpatient setting. Our ideal candidate has at least 2 years of recent medical assistant experience coordinating with a team of medical professionals and experience is insurance verifications and authorizations. Candidate preferred to be bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Genetics education for high-risk patients.
  • Registration and scheduling follow up appointments for genetic testing.
  • Interface with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner.
  • Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Performs with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic info / initials including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
  • Maintains required records and documentation.
  • Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees and the public in general.
  • Coming soon: draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. Once started, this is roughly 5-10% of the role, which may expand over time.

Job Requirements:

  • 2 years of recent medical assistant experience coordinating with a team of medical professionals, certification or registered medical assistant is preferred.
  • Ability to provide quality, error free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills in collection of specimens, including blood draws, for genetic testing
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which may include holidays, on-call and overtime
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
  • Must demonstrate superior customer focus; ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors and patients; ability to accelerate and embrace change; and knowledge of our business.
  • Training locations may vary based on trainer availability
  • BLS certification is required

Required Education:

  • Registered/Certified Medical assistant preferred
  • Phlebotomy certification required, and proven experience in blood collection is required.

Work Experience:

  • 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience is preferred, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections
  • 2 years of recent medical assistant experience coordinating with a team of medical professionals, certification or registered medical assistant is preferred.
  • 2 years of recent experience with insurance verifications/authorizations is required.
  • Minimum 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred
  • Customer service in healthcare setting environment is preferred
  • Keyboard/data entry experience
