A Day in the Life of an Operations Manager
As an Operations Manager, you take ownership of the day-to-day management and oversight of internal and external trades, warehouse, scheduling and fleet operations, and management of multiple jobs at various phases. You're a leader who sets short- and long-term strategic objectives in alignment with the branch/region while ensuring KPIs, financial, and customer experience standards are met. You are tasked with the overall success of projects while supervising, leading, and motivating the operations teams to safely achieve goals, completing projects on time and under budget in alignment with industry standards, compliance, and company policies.
Your knowledge and experience with general construction and disaster recovery protocols, equipment, and standards is key to hiring talent, providing feedback and coaching the team, and enables you to step in as a stop gap when needed. You demonstrate unquestionable ethics that exceed our company standards for quality, integrity, and timeliness. Responsibilities:
- Maintain Quality Control Assurance
- Team management and planning
- Daily operations, documentation, and communication for all assigned projects
- Maintain company communication policy, ensuring delivery of timely and complete Daily Field Reports
- Oversee Contract & Change Order execution
- Project financial reporting - contract amount, estimate budgeting, cost budgeting, WIP, Change Orders
- Monitor job margins, progress, and costs, and communicate plan changes to leadership
- Crisis management and conflict resolution
- Collections support
- Margin analysis and reporting
- Manage on-call responses and dispatch technicians and strategic partners
- Audit ongoing projects for compliance
- Participate in the solicitation of work from commercial end users, Insurance Brokers, Adjusters and Risk Management with the sales team
- Develop on-call schedule
- Assist Project Managers in soliciting bids & coordinating subcontractors to perform work
- Manage project financials
- Manage the DR/GC work order process and purchase orders
- Support Project Managers in preparation of plans and specs, including code and permit compliance
- Review Xactimate scopes when necessary
- Plan and control all GC & DR activities with employees
- Maintain and/or oversee job-related equipment and materials inventory
- Oversight of reports and documentation, and other job-related paperwork
- Assist project management with permitting
- Ability to respond after hours and on weekends
- Valid driver's license required
- 10 years of restoration/construction industry experience or a combination of relevant education and equivalent industry experience
- Safety courses as required for your position
- Bachelor's degree, preferred
- Five years of Management experience, preferred
