The IT Operations Support Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software used throughout the organization. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to Windows operating system, Mac, printers, Android mobile computers, LAN/WAN networking, endpoint management and protection software, and business applications. The IT Operations Support Technician is also involved in special Information Technology projects associated with the organization's overall strategic plan.

To accomplish these responsibilities, the IT Operations Support Technician must be able to appropriately communicate to ITS management concerns and issues identified in the day-to-day management of all the aforementioned areas. The IT Operations Support Technician will work on tasks which are varied and complex, monitor the environment to identify problems and issues, escalate where applicable to the appropriate persons, management, or vendor, and will be responsible for the follow through and resolution of these identified problems and issues. Ability to adapt procedures, tools, equipment, techniques to meet business and project needs. The IT Operations Support Technician must also demonstrate an ability to work well within a team environment and to manage business relationships with customers and vendors.

The IT Operations Support Technician is expected to be proficient with operating systems such as Windows, Mac OS and Linux as well as common desktop applications. Desktop applications include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, and others. IT Operations Support Technician is expected to have a functional knowledge of LAN/WAN networking and endpoint management with Microsoft Intune.

The IT Operations Support Technician position requires carrying of a phone during work hours and occasional after hours & weekends, lifting of computer equipment, and occasional travel. This role is preferred to be on-site with remote opportunities provided on a case-by-case basis.

Typical pay for this position is $55,000-$65,000 annually. The final offer for this position will be based on the unique experience and qualifications of the candidate selected. This position may also be eligible for a bonus not included in the base pay range.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Performs configuration, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and ensures repairs/fixes of PC hardware, peripherals, devices, operating systems and software applications.
  • Performs troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs/fixes common desktop application problems. These include, but are not limited to, problems with e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, project management, and web browsers.
  • Performs troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs/fixes RF equipment used in the Distribution Center.
  • Perform network infrastructure and maintenance tasks and assist senior staff in the identification and resolution of network operating problems.
  • Microsoft 365, Intune, Defender, and Entra ID (Azure AD) administration.
  • Development and maintenance of scripts to assist with process automation or deployment using common scripting languages including PowerShell, Python, Batch, and Bash.
  • Perform project related work which may include implementation or configuration of new hardware or software.
  • IT Operations Support Technician will support a cloud-based phone system.
  • Assist in the installation of network infrastructure equipment.
  • Implements backup and recovery procedures according to company backup and retention policies.
  • IT Operations Support Technician will support engineering software such as SolidWorks, Pro-E, IAR systems and Mentor Graphics Pads.
  • Performs troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs/fixes issues related to printers.
  • Performs troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs/fixes MAC operating system problems.
  • Tracks changes to configuration and installation of new software in the change management system.
  • Ensures that problems and their solutions are properly logged into the IT Operations Ticketing System.
  • Trains users in PC functions and techniques.
  • Keeps track of local inventory and stocks consumable such as patch cables, network adapters, and hard drives. Also responsible for tracking software licenses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the IT Operations Management.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.

Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant work experience.
  • 3-5 years experience in IT or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Sufficient knowledge of IT operations, responsibilities, workflow processes and procedures to resolve most inquiries independently.
  • Knowledge in Active Directory, Microsoft E5 Suite, Microsoft Intune, and LAN networking
  • Strong ability to document common problems and identify opportunities for the department to become more efficient and successful.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior customer service skills/customer-centric mindset.
  • Strong oral and written communication and learning skills.
  • Results driven individual, ability to prioritize and drive tasks to completion.

Preferred, but not required:

  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • CompTIA Network+ certification
  • Microsoft AZ-900, SC-900, or MS-900
  • CCNA certification
  • PowerShell experience
  • Jira and Confluence experience
