Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Asphalt Trailer Mechanic to join our team in Gulfport, MS. This position is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing asphalt tankers and trailers to ensure safe, reliable, and DOT-compliant operations. Ideal candidates will have experience working with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems, and a strong mechanical aptitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on asphalt tankers and trailers
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and complete necessary repairs
- Ensure compliance with all DOT and company safety regulations
- Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
- Weld or fabricate parts as needed (minor welding experience preferred)
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation of all work performed
- strong communication skills and the ability to work with local venders on keeping our costs down
- Coordinate with dispatch and logistics teams to schedule and prioritize repairs
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and in compliance with safety standards
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a trailer mechanic (asphalt trailer experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of trailer systems: air brakes, suspension, lighting, wiring, and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and trailer inspection procedures
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure
- Basic welding and fabrication skills a plus
- Must have own basic hand tools
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL a plus, but not required)
