Summary: The Financial Intake Specialist is responsible for utilizing customer service skills to meet client intake and information service needs, as well as provide general information and referral services. The Financial Intake Specialist is responsible for conducting financial intake interviews with clients. This position also rotates coverage for front desk reception and financial intake duties as needed.
Essential Functions: Triages and prioritizes incoming requests for services with appropriate clinical and financial guidance while adhering to confidentiality requirements. Verifies client insurance coverage and prepares forms for intake interview. Conducts intake interviews with clients and/or other referral sources to gather necessary information to connect client with appropriate services. May include computing client’s sliding fee amount, explaining insurance coverage, and explaining billing policies and fees. Schedules assessment appointment. Enters intake information into Electronic Health Records system necessary to insure accuracy and completeness. Refers clients with possible Medicaid eligibility criteria to Medicaid Enrollment Specialist. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
General Requirements: Scheduling, reception, customer service and financial intake screening experience required. Insurance billing and electronic medical records experience required. Knowledge of HIPAA/confidentiality guidelines required.
Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Post high school courses in insurance billing, data processing and medical terminology preferred.
Working Conditions: Professional office environment; exposure to computer screens; work closely with others; sitting for prolonged periods of time; may be required to stand, stoop, push, pull, bend, and lift and move light objects, such as records and boxes; manual dexterity required. Maintain mental capacity that permits making sound judgments regarding work and have regular attendance. The employee is expected to adhere to all agency policies and procedures.

Amount of Travel: Minimal, mostly confined to local travel.
Salary Range: Salary commensurate with certification and experience.
