SUMMARY: As an Apprentice, you will be responsible for various tasks, from janitorial duties to assisting with chemical deliveries. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the wastewater treatment field under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Janitorial duties in all plant buildings, to maintain the facility in good appearance.
  • Safely uses equipment supplied to him.
  • Uses pressure washer to clean equipment.
  • Uses water hoses to clean tank surfaces.
  • Coordinates work for the Laborer I
  • Painting and surface preparation
  • Maintains an adequate supply of cleaning supplies.
  • Assists the Maintenance Mechanic in Preventive Maintenance duties (lubrication)
  • Assists with chemical deliveries.
  • Assists with Fats/Oil/Grease deliveries for processing in digesters.
  • Maintains the Riverwalk from Bull Creek Bridge to Oxbow Meadows (3.5 miles)
  • Coordinates delivery and pick up of employee’s uniforms.
  • From time to time, may be called upon by a supervisor to perform other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Education & Experience

High School graduate or GED are the minimum requirements. Possess a valid and clean Georgia driver’s license.

Language Skills

Ability to read and speak English and interpret documents such as safety rules, work orders, and MSDS material.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense to carry out instructions furnished in oral and written form.

As an Apprentice, you must be physically fit and able to meet the job's demands. This includes regularly reaching, standing, walking, and using stairs and occasionally lifting and moving objects of up to 50 pounds.

The employee must occasionally lift and be able to move objects of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to moderate noise and vibration. The employee often works outside in all weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes, gases, and airborne particles. The employee regularly works with and around chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, confined spaces, associated tanks, and chemical storage systems commonly found in the wastewater industry.
