We are seeking a Laser Technician to help us manage and scale up our laser systems for our quantum computers, increasing reliability and performance.

Job Requirements

  • Build laser assemblies (fiber or free-space) according to assembly instructions
  • Ability to utilize sensitive production equipment such as fiber splicers and measurement instruments after training and according to documented instructions
  • Handles and assembles intricate opto-mechanical components and assemblies, including handling and mounting of fragile optics and/or optical fibers
  • Alignment of laser and laser accessory systems following documented instructions
  • Maintain data systems to record and report test results
  • Understand and follow work instructions, engineering drawings, and other material used for the production of complex systems involving electronics, mechanical assemblies and fiber components
  • Perform incoming inspection for mechanical, electronic, and fiber components utilizing standard inspection tools
  • Able to work independently with little supervision while maintaining high quality output
  • Willingness to work in Demark for up to 2 months, estimated to begin in the summer of 2026
  • Other duties as assigned


Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s in Physics, Optics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 2+ years experience (degree inclusive) using and maintaining optical, opto-mechanical and/or laser systems


Qualifications

  • Temperamentally suited to work at a fast-growing, early stage startup: self-motivated, humble, driven, collaborative, and has a high tolerance for ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse team of experimental physicists, hardware, and software engineers
  • Expertise with current state-of-the-art lasers/amplifiers (e.g. diode and fiber-based) and nonlinear optical materials, and experience with the characterization, phase-locking, and optimization of laser and nonlinear optical systems in addition to design and modeling experience of nonlinear optical and laser/amplifier systems
  • Experience with data analysis (taking, plotting, analyzing, fitting and interpreting relevant data from optical testing experiments)
  • Experience with engineering change documentation; ability to work from assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, sketches and other written, visual and oral instructions
  • Participate in the creation of laboratory safety procedures
  • Definite pluses: Familiarity with Python and Git software version control. Zemax, Onshape, and/or Solidworks/CAD for designing optical and optomechanical systems

The base salary range for this position is between $80,000 - $100,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to salary, we offer an annual bonus and equity in the company.
