The Operations Manager for the People & Culture Group (“P&CG”), consisting of the departments of Human Resources, Training, Development and Care, and Corporate Affairs shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.

This position will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of ministry activities by supporting logistical, administrative and project coordination needs across departments. This position will primarily support and increase the capacity of General Counsel and, tangentially, the Vice President of Human Resources, by facilitating greater synergy and coordinated services which advance the strategic priorities, workflows and resources of the P&CG.

The Operations Manager will facilitate and encourage the maintenance of cross-departmental relationships amongst the People & Culture Leadership Team, consisting of top leaders of Human Resources (HR), Training Development and Care (TDC) and Corporate Affairs (CA), to fulfill their functional leadership responsibilities and to enable leadership success.

The Operations Manager will interact with these team leads on the day-to-day affairs of HR, TDC and CA on behalf of General Counsel, and in consultation with the Vice President of HR. The Operations Manager will also serve as a consultant to General Counsel and will be responsible for ensuring ongoing operational excellence in the delivery of people-related resources, legal services, and equitable access to training, development and care, all in alignment with our Navigator CORE. The Operations Manager will serve as a first line of communication between team leaders and with General Counsel and will ensure that General Counsel and the Vice President of HR remain informed on all critical issues and concerns.

Essential Functions

Operations Manager (80%)

Serve on People & Culture Leadership team, consisting of General Council, VP of HR and TDC Director and their selected line leaders

  • Assist General Counsel in setting direction, making decisions which ensure alignment with our Calling and CORE, and gathering relevant information needed to do both.
  • Ensure the integration and completion of People and Culture Group initiatives within siloed areas of expertise and also collectively.
  • Meet with, coach and resource members of the People and Culture Leadership Team to help them fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Cultivate effective sharing of vision, services and resources among the People and Culture Leadership Team.
  • Identify efficiencies in services through cross-utilization of transferable skills among the People and Culture Group.
  • Additionally, the Operations Manager will:
  • Prepare meeting agendas and facilitate People and Culture Leadership Team meetings
  • Encourage relational connection and healthy dialogue
  • Ensure the creation of action steps and assess progress
  • Manage delegation and follow-through on projects assigned to People and Culture Leadership Team members
  • Create executive summaries as needed

Coordinate Synergism

  • Facilitate concrete areas of collaboration and help to cultivate synergy between all areas of the People and Culture Group
  • Provide oversight and management of projects assigned by General Counsel, and collaborate with VP of HR, TDC Director and Corporate Affairs team lead to develop regular rubrics of service capabilities and efficiencies
  • Ensure alignment of People and Culture Group initiatives with organizational priorities
  • Lead in creating systems & processes to increase collaboration & coordination among our distinct but unified People and Culture Group teams
  • Ensure that People and Culture Group initiatives, resources and communiques represent appropriate diversity of ethnicity, gender, age, and professional experience.
  • Assist in facilitating People and Culture Group teams in strategic planning & implementation of innovative ideas and initiatives that will move us forward in our Calling and CORE
  • Provide General Counsel with regular updates needed for review, consideration, and/or decisions

Engage Field Ministries and HQ Departments

  • Foster relational connection and cultivate relationships of trust and collaboration between the People and Culture Group, Field Missions, Ministries, Networks and HQ departments.
  • Represent the People and Culture Group on various cross-functional/missional teams.
  • Serve as an advocate communicating perspective to and from Field Ministries.
  • Obtain feedback from a representative sampling of field staff to assist in decision-making and project implementation.
  • Attend meetings and conferences as needed to stay connected with the needs of the field and the overall strategic goals of The Navigators.

Additional Responsibilities [20% of Time]

  • Commit to ongoing professional development outside of primary People and Culture Leadership Team responsibilities that will ultimately benefit both you and the long-term strategic goals and services of the People and Culture Group.
  • Participate in Navigators’ on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings, or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.
  • Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver’s Authorization, and other releases as required.
  • Submit expense report as needed due the 15th of each month.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum And Preferred Qualifications

Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.

Extensive organizational Navigator background and knowledge necessary. Field experience is a plus.

Experience: Seven years of experience in Operations Management or like field. Two to four years of project management experience required.

Technical Knowledge & Skills: Microsoft Office & project management systems (ex. Basecamp.

Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including verbal & written, to create understanding and build strong working relationships required. Ability to work well with others and to foster an atmosphere of collaboration required. Excellent presentation skills required

Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree or coursework in management information systems.

Compensation Range: $78,200-122,000/year
