The Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) is a national non-profit dedicated to the employment, development, and advancement of current and aspiring Latino professionals. Since 1982, HACE has served as a resource for Latinos in the workplace and is a subject matter expert for corporations seeking to access diverse talent. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Chief of Staff to provide operating and strategic oversight through a phase of rapid organizational growth combined with an elevated focus on corporate social responsibility across the country. The Chief of Staff will be the primary partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and refining processes and procedures for all critical business functions including finance and accounting, program development and management, human resources, operations. The Chief of Staff will be a principal member of the leadership team, ensuring that the organization remains effective and engaged with corporate partners, funders, staff, and vendors. This position requires a seasoned, mission-focused, and process-minded individual with experience executing on vision and strategy through day-to-day operations, financial oversight, and staff management. The Chief of Staff will report to the CEO and will have supervisory responsibilities over all Vice Presidents and all department heads.

KEY REPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership & Strategy

  • Partner with the CEO to develop and manage the ongoing strategy of the organization.
  • Maintain successful programming and envision program enhancements.
  • Set annual performance goals and the organizational planning and evaluation processes in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Participate in Board of Directors meetings, providing updates to and seeking feedback from members on operating and financial performance to inform high-level decision making and strategy.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a dynamic and mission-focused team, including supporting staff development plans, and ensure that all staff members have the resources they need to succeed and maintain/develop relevant programs and outcomes.
  • Lead staff in conducting internal program evaluations.
  • Serve as the internal leader of the organization:
    • Lead the performance management process that measure and evaluates progress against goals.
    • Lead and manage the team members of the Leadership Team; supervise operations, human resources, cohesiveness, and skills/competencies building, including staff professional development.


Finance & Operations

  • Oversee the full range of financial and accounting functions and systems: All financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and analyses provide meaningful information for senior management and Board decision-making.
  • Manage the budget development process and ensure sound financial management in partnership with the CPA Firm, Director of Operations and department heads, to facilitate budgetary reviews and strategic financial conversations with the leadership team.
  • Maintains the highest level of ethics and ensure it is employed in accounting and operations and decision-making.
  • Ensures the organization has sufficient reserves and solvency.
  • Review program financial efficacy and make appropriate recommendations. Coordinate annual operational plans and lead the development of the budget.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, grants, and reporting.
  • Negotiate and review contractual terms and conditions ranging from procurement of services to partner and funder agreements and engage outside counsel when necessary.
  • Guide the organization's risk management strategies in a comprehensive way to assess and evaluate risk across the organization and create monitoring and mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze the current technology infrastructure and identify the next level of information technology and financial systems that support the growth of programs and organization overall.


People & Culture

  • Foster a strong, inclusive, and equitable organizational culture.
  • Be a unifying presence and strategic conduit between the CEO and organizational departments.
  • Oversee HR systems including hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and professional development.
  • Ensure policies and practices support staff well-being and organizational resilience
  • Supporting effective and impactful recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable human resource laws, policies and procedures.


External Management

  • Work with CEO and VP to develop development/fundraising plan.
  • Participate in events and activities, speaking opportunities that help enhance the brand and visibility of HACE, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in DEI and/or recruiting, including 3 years overseeing finance and accounting, and supporting human resources functions.
  • Master’s degree required.
  • Direct experience re-envisioning organizational infrastructure, including implementation of business processes and systems, experience with technology to scale programming.
  • Success in leading a diverse and mission-focused virtual staff and national network across cultures, languages, and work styles, with a track record of managing hiring processes and on-boarding procedures.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate individuals and foster a focus on organizational vision; knowledge of basic human resources issues and experience setting individual and team performance goals and evaluating their execution.
  • A thorough understanding of finance and HR; broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems. A proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience, and judgment; high level of business acumen including profit and loss management; the ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; and problem-solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness.
  • Strategic thinking: ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into organizational plans.
  • Initiative-taker, using sound, independent judgment and discretion and seeking guidance and feedback where appropriate.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art organizational and career management platforms.
  • Commitment to the mission and an ability to promote and communicate the philosophy, mission, and values to corporate partners, funders, government officials, and other stakeholders.
  • Will travel as needed, up to 30%-40% of the time, nationwide, when not in virtual programming.

POSITION DETAILS

Entry Salary Range: Commensurate with experience $140,000-$170,000

Pay Type: Full-Time Exempt Role
