Position Summary: Creates final mechanicals with attention to composition, color, typography and visual impact.

Role Qualifications

  • Must be able to effectively execute design solutions against a creative brief to meet constraints of cost, time and client needs
  • Must work well in a team, with printers, copywriters, photographers, proofreaders, other designers, account executives, website designers and marketing specialists

Position Responsibilities

  • Designs and executes mechanicals, based on client specification, brand standards, budget constraints and final format needed for file output
  • Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, and arranges layout based upon specs and aesthetic design concepts
  • Presents sample to Creative Director for approval
  • Provides final pre-flight of digital files that are delivered to clients and vendors to ensure the accuracy of the completed project
  • Reviews proofs from vendors
  • Uses a wide range of media, including photography and computer-aided design
  • Keeps abreast of developments in marketing and advertising environments
  • Contributes ideas and design artwork to the overall brief
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Graphic Design, Advertising or Marketing, or 3 to 5 years’ experience in a related field required
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Proficient in graphic design software in a Mac environment including Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Ability to execute files using Microsoft Office applications such as PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Thinks creatively to produce new ideas
  • Ability to think visually and to envision a project from beginning to end
  • Must be able to solve complex problems, make judgments and decisions, and think logically and critically
  • Ability to multitask while meeting tight deadlines
  • Produces accurate and high-quality work
