The purpose of this position is to preserve and protect the natural habitat and physical facilities, primarily in neighborhood parks, community parks, trails system, and for the programming and planning of educational outdoor interpretive programs. A Park Ranger teaches and provides front line customer service to the public and enforces rules, regulations, and ordinances related to Parks and Recreation area usage. The Park Ranger may oversee part-time staff and volunteers. This position is under the general supervision of a Park Ranger Supervisor or a Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, teach, and oversee part-time or volunteer staff involved in outdoor education, recreation, and interpretive programs.
- Provide front-line public relations and deliver professional, courteous customer service by assisting park visitors and responding promptly to service calls.
- Patrol city parks and recreation areas to identify and address inappropriate, suspicious, or unsafe behavior or conditions; take corrective actions or notify relevant personnel to ensure visitor safety.
- Respond to emergencies by coordinating with Police and Fire-Medical services and enforcing park rules and regulations, including issuing citations and testifying in court when required.
- Complete various administrative duties such as maintaining patrol logs, attendance records, incident and injury reports, and documenting damage to park facilities and equipment.
- Organize and participate in community outreach events to promote park programs and services.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks during patrols, including trail repairs and debris removal using small hand tools.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness by collecting loose trash throughout the parks during patrols.

Minimum Requirements
Education
- High school graduation or equivalency
- 9-12 months' previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.
- The job requires a working understanding of common techniques, methods, practices, procedures, use of forms, routines, etc., of an intermediate nature.
- Work requires moderate physical exertion. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 20 and 50 pounds.
- A valid Arizona drivers' license is required.
- Attainment of Basic Life Support (CPR) and First Aid certification within 6 months of hire.
- Successful completion of International Police Mountain Bike Association course or equivalent within one year of hire, depending on assignment
