Job Overview

Della Porta Construction Inc., a respected leader in Florida's residential and commercial construction industry, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Project Estimator - Cost & Bid Analysis to join our Sales & Client Relations division. Based on-site at our Treasure Coast location, this full-time role is pivotal in laying the groundwork for successful builds by developing accurate budgets, managing bids, and driving value through early project planning. Key Responsibilities

  • Estimate Development
    • Prepare conceptual and detailed estimates from schematic to construction documents.
    • Complete accurate quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Bid Management
    • Prepare and issue subcontractor bid packages; lead bid solicitation, tracking, and leveling.
    • Maintain and update subcontractor pricing databases and cost histories.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work closely with architects, engineers, and clients to refine project scopes and explore cost-effective alternatives.
    • Participate in proposal development and client interviews.
  • Preconstruction Planning
    • Develop preconstruction schedules and assist with site logistics planning.
    • Conduct site visits to evaluate existing conditions and project feasibility.
  • Risk & Value Analysis
    • Identify project risks and provide solutions during preconstruction.
    • Lead value engineering discussions to optimize design and cost.
Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in estimating or preconstruction within the construction industry.
  • Associate's degree required; bachelor's in Construction Management or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction systems, building codes, and CSI divisions.
  • Proficient with estimating software such as PlanSwift, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Acumatica ERP system.
  • Background in both negotiated and hard-bid project environments.
  • Familiarity with CM-at-Risk and design-build delivery models.
  • LEED accreditation or understanding of sustainable construction practices.

Schedule

  • Full-Time - Monday to Friday
  • Some extended hours may be required based on project schedules.

Location

  • On-site at Della Porta Construction headquarters on Florida's Treasure Coast.
  • Travel to project sites is required.
