The General Manager of POET Terminal – Savannah leads a team of approximately 55 team members in the daily operation of a terminal facility. In addition to daily operations, the General Manager has the vital responsibility to train, grow, and develop a team of highly motivated individuals. DURING A TYPICAL DAY

  • Nothing else matters without a safe environment! You will foster a culture where safety is non-negotiable.
  • Lead a team of operations, logistics, maintenance, engineering, EH&S, and administrative professionals.
  • Under your leadership, your team will have the autonomy to ensure a highly efficient operation which will maximize profitability while continuing to enhance a cutting-edge facility.
  • Build and maintain relationships with your bioethanol and co-product marketing teams.
  • With your guidance, team members will ensure regulatory compliance at all levels (BATF, OSHA, USDA, EPA, and state organizations, etc.).
  • Frequently connect with your team members to guide, coach, and develop them to meet their personal and professional goals.
  • Coordinate and work cross functionally with various teams on capital and maintenance projects.
  • Spend time in the terminal utilizing your operational capabilities to ensure maximum efficiency of the terminal.
  • Partner with community and political leaders to champion POET’s mission at the local, state and national levels.
  • Partner with and effectively manage all third-party vendors to ensure successful projects and operations.
  • Effectively manage the team by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training team members. Leadership responsibilities also include delegating, coaching, managing performance and career development to effectively execute departmental strategies and support company objectives.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Engineering, Operations Management or a related field is strongly preferred.
    • In lieu of a degree, 7+ years of direct leadership and relevant operations experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • You are humble and value relationships, yet driven and highly energetic.
  • You have grit, the ability to persevere and rally teams to achieve extraordinary results.
  • You communicate effectively in writing and in person.
  • You have excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • You have the ability to understand technical and day to day operation of a terminal facility.
  • You develop team members by encouraging individual initiative to achieve personal and organizational goals.
  • You are comfortable with conflict and are able to navigate ambiguous situations.
  • You can inspire and help people see the importance of what they are doing.
  • You are a change agent.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment at our terminals is dynamic. You should expect a balance between time spent in the office and in the field, which may include some physical labor helping your team members.
  • In this role, you’ll be asked to drive a POET vehicle. A motor vehicle record check will be conducted during the preemployment process.
  • Due to the physical and safety sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
