Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Informatics and Health Information Management, the Clinical Informatics Operational Manager is accountable for leading the efforts of educating on, optimizing, and maintaining clinical applications. The manager acts as a liaison between departments, interfacing with vendors or customers for software issues, and creating a streamlined workflow for end users. Ensures that clinical applications are aligned with the organization's overall business goals and provides guidance to management on how implementing new technology may affect the organization's current workflow. The manager also ensures maximum effectiveness of systems by comprehending their functionality and other options for clinical software development. The manager directs and mentors informatics staff to meet their full potential for the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to read and understand the English language
  • Ability to effectively maintain confidentiality of records and communicate with all levels of personnel
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Additional Skills Required

  • Knowledge of Outpatient Clinic Operations
  • Experience in the Microsoft Suite
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work with changing priorities. Requires excellent organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Must be able to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority
  • Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be able to function as part of a team
  • Must possess initiative
  • Basic medical terminology required
  • Ability to present and teach effectively in front of large groups

Additional skills preferred: Proficient in use of all computer software utilized in practice

Education: Associate’s degree in a relevant field such as nursing, computer science, informatics, healthcare administration, or healthcare related role.

Experience: :2+ Years in an outpatient provider office setting or relevant experience, 2+ Years in clinical informatics or relevant work, 2+ Years in leadership role (preferred)

Certification/Licensure: Nursing Preferred

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and representation on organizational committees and projects
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in departmental process mapping of current state and future state workflows
  • Provide the team with system and operations expertise for maintenance and system changes
  • Facilitate and provide go-live, upgrade, optimization, and troubleshooting support
  • Serve as a liaison for leaders, clinicians and administrative staff
  • Works to design and develop education/training materials to support staff training and continued education
  • Participates in special projects as approved by the Director
  • Supports the monitoring and analysis of the electronic medical record, practice management system, and other clinical systems
  • Works with clinicians from all departments, to identify areas where the electronic medical record can effectively support and enhance their clinical process
  • Manages the ticketing platform system for software issues, questions, and requests
  • Maintains current knowledge of clinical practice, organizational policy, regulatory requirements and standards of practice
  • Serves as the primary contact and mentor, along with other members of the clinical informatics team, for the super users and champions across all departments
  • Assists the Information Technology department in the support of clinical users when appropriate.
  • Works with users to define system requirements for content (data elements) and successful integration into workflow.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
