Johanson Technology Inc. (JTI)/Johanson Dielectrics (JDI) is looking for a Manufacturing Testing Operator, who will perform a variety of in-process inspections according to statistical sampling plans for Planar production.

JTI/JDI has over thirty years' experience specializing in the design, manufacture and sales of high-quality Power and RF ceramic chip capacitors, inductors, and Integrated Passive Components into the global electronics market.

Hourly Salary (Non-Exempt): $18.50 - $19.50

Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least six (6) months of microscope experience
  • Able to read drawings (Geometric Dimension & Tolerances)
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Intermediate math skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Essential Functions:

  • Perform in-process inspections include (but are not limited to):
  • Conducting visual inspections with microscopes
  • Measuring mechanical parts using precision instruments and computer-aided microscopes
  • Testing electrical characteristics with precision test equipment
  • Documentation Review (completeness and compliance)
  • Inspections may require sample preparation, such as basic soldering, installing fixtures, calculating and entering test parameters into the test equipment.
  • Maintain a steady throughput and low error rate for each order that arrives at the department. Ensure all tests are performed as the procedure or work instruction describes and reports all failures per the quality requirements.
  • Proper set-up of inspection equipment, to include the fixtures requirements and the parameters required as defined by the procedures.
  • Review of measurement results and validation of results. This will include review of test procedures, specifications, internal and external part drawings.
  • Perform necessary sample preparation such as part mounting and soldering.
  • Review the completeness of each order and ensure all tests required are completed and no open action item prior to transaction of parts.
  • Enter all required data into databases and/or in the production record (traveler).
  • Report discrepancies in the work instructions to the quality department.

  • Read drawings (Geometric Dimension & Tolerances).
  • Must have the ability to follow safety procedures when using manufacturing/testing equipment.
  • Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction.
  • Capable of prioritizing and determining what needs to be completed according to department needs and workload.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize competing requests, while keeping lines of communication open and the team satisfied.
  • Very detail oriented
  • Ability to analyze and think quickly to resolve conflict.
