Position Summary

The Production Manager is a hands-on manager and leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of production operations and performance to include processes and improvements to ensure that high-precision, complex components and systems are manufactured on schedule, within quality standards, and cost objectives. This position is critical to continued maintenance of high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in the manufacturing environment compliant with ISO 9001 and AS9100.

This position will support, coordinate and direct the production team in daily manufacturing of existing products and processes, while working with the Engineering team on the development of new processes, training of supervisors, customer interaction, interaction with UTC sales/operations as well as site leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Manufacturing Operations: Manage daily production activities to ensure on-time and on-budget performance, meeting both internal and external customer requirements.
  • Compliance with Quality Standards: Ensure all production processes and outputs comply with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems, maintaining proper documentation and audit readiness.
  • Safety and Environmental Compliance: Uphold workplace safety and environmental regulations, conducting regular training and audits to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion and implement continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S principles to optimize productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Resource and Team Management: Manage personnel, equipment, and inventory to support production goals, including staffing, training, cross-training, and performance evaluations.
  • Process Optimization: Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, procurement, maintenance) to streamline workflows, resolve issues, and improve production efficiency.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Develop and manage department budgets, control direct and indirect costs, and ensure cost-effective production without compromising quality.
  • Performance Tracking and Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), report on production status, and implement corrective actions as needed to address deficiencies.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Lead or coordinate facility maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with all departments to align goals, share metrics, and resolve operational challenges
  • May communicate with customers to make sure all requirements are addressed on Production manufacturing. Interactions may be in email, teleconference, or face to face.
  • Understands and ensures ITAR control of products, drawings, and any other related materials.
  • Models professional and ethical behavior in all communication, reporting and decision making.

  • This position may require exposure to information subject to US Export Control regulations, i.e., the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be US persons within the meaning of US regulations

Requirements

Criteria for Success:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing management, overseeing a team, and preferably in regulated environments (ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of capacitors or related electronic components. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality management systems, and ERP/MRP software
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate teams, with excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of FMEA, Lean, and Six Sigma Principles helpful.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with ITAR and other relevant regulatory requirements, as applicable.
  • Computer skills: proficiency with Outlook, ERP, and Excel.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to work well and collaborate with other people, both externally and internally.
  • Ability to read blueprints, knowledge of machines, SPC, Failure Analysis, and engineering metrics.
  • Ability to problem solve and identify issues and offer solutions to optimize processes
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling customer interactions

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • This is an on-site role in which the position operates within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods as well as go up and down stairs often.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
  • Frequent use of hands for inspection tools, measurement devices, and computer work.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, or crouch occasionally to inspect products and equipment.
  • The role will be mainly located on the production floor, which will involve exposure to machinery, noise, dust, fluctuating temperatures and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, safety shoes and gloves.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, perform computer work, and communicate effectively in person and electronically.
  • Vision required in the job includes close vision and reading a computer screen.
  • Less than 10% travel may be required to other Quantic company facilities, support customer visits or supplier meetings.
