Description

The Hatcher Group is seeking a strategic, results-driven, and mission-focused Business Development Manager to lead and expand our business development pursuits. This role is responsible for driving strategic growth, managing high-value capture efforts, and overseeing proposal development operations. The ideal candidate will bring a strong leadership presence, a deep understanding of the marketing agency sector, and a proven track record of securing new business opportunities. This role requires a visionary thinker who can align Hatcher’s capabilities with emerging market needs and lead cross-functional teams to success.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead cross-sector collaboration to identify, prioritize, and shape business opportunities aligned with Hatcher's mission, goals, and capabilities.
  • Oversee the full capture lifecycle-from opportunity identification and strategy development to proposal submission and post-submission analysis.
  • Partner with sector leads to develop compelling win themes, competitive positioning, and differentiators across various client types.
  • Direct proposal operations, ensuring high-quality technical, pricing, and compliance reviews for submissions.
  • Optimize and manage business development systems, including CRM (Monday.com), proposal content repository, and internal workflows.
  • Negotiate teaming agreements, define roles and responsibilities, and manage partner relationships to strengthen proposal teams.
  • Mentor the growth team, including a proposal and capture specialist and a proposal coordinator.
  • Champion continuous improvement across business development functions, promoting knowledge sharing and operational excellence.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of progressive business development experience.
  • Industry training or certification such as Shipley or APMP.
  • Senior-level presence with dynamic facilitation skills and a proven ability to drive high-impact collaboration across cross-functional teams and personalities.
  • Distinguished writing expertise in delivering persuasive, strategic content tailored to a wide spectrum of clients and business development contexts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Monday.com or similar project management tools.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to juggle multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work directly with internal clients and manage proposals in collaboration with others.
  • Flexibility to quickly adapt when high-priority needs arise.
  • Experience working under pressure with deadlines.
