Position Summary

The Receiving Quality Inspector role is responsible for the day-to-day recording and validation of material between customers, vendors and operations. He/she is able to learn and/or perform receiving inspection duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect materials and products for conformance to specifications
  • Verify certification and conformity to Production Specifications
  • Communicate with vendors on discrepancies and facilitate returns and replacements
  • Assist in the controlling/segregating of conforming vs. non-conforming parts /product
  • Carry out policies and procedures for testing and evaluating products
  • Responsible for operating mechanical and electrical test equipment
  • Works to Standard Operating Procedures (work instructions)
  • Assists in recording of non-conformities of parts/product
  • Other duties, as assigned by supervision or management

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related field
  • High school diploma or GED, and up to one year work experience preferred
  • Aerospace experience preferred
  • Strong machining background with cutting tool speeds and feeds required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge

  • Ability to review, validate and receive incoming products from suppliers and vendors
  • Working knowledge and experience using testing and inspection tools
  • Requires knowledge and experience in inspection techniques and principles
  • Ability to perform calculations utilizing arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Ability to perform calculations utilizing algebra and fractions
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Technical Skills

  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Must be fully proficient in BP & Customer specification reading and application
  • Ability read, interpret and update FAI requirements as needed
  • Knowledge of Catia is a plus

Personality and Attitude

  • A degree of creativity and latitude required
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and provide a variety of information
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Interpersonal and Professional Skills:

  • Ability to communicate simple facts with courtesy and clarity

Physical Requirements:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Work near moving mechanical part

Physical and Environmental Demands

Manufacturing environment may be exposed to noise levels, dust, grime and heat. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment
