Description

Under immediate supervision, uses established procedures to assist customers with cemetery-related matters regarding City-owned cemeteries.

Examples of Duties

This position is the primary contact with customers arranging for a burial in a city-owned cemetery or requesting cemetery-related services, such as the purchase of an appropriate memorial to mark a grave or seeking historical data for genealogical research. This position is responsible for advising customers, as per City Code, on cemetery-related matters, completing purchase agreements, collecting funds, preparing and reconciling daily cash collection reports and bank deposits, providing support for various accounts receivable and accounts payable functions and other related work as required. This position is responsible for the accurate recordation of related transactions and working with various vendors and local service providers to assure customer satisfaction.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and considerable experience in direct customer contact, general clerical work and the application of general accounting principles on a daily basis.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Thorough knowledge of standard office methods and procedures, including a working knowledge of both Microsoft Word and Excel, demonstrated professional written and oral communication skills, ability to read, interpret and appropriately apply established procedures and City Code.

Physical Requirements

This work is sedentary and requires little to no exertion of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires standing; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
