Who You Are

You’re a seasoned leader with expertise in multi-channel digital marketing, consumer journeys, audience segmentation, and performance analysis, with a proven ability to lead teams and deliver measurable results. This role is both strategic and hands-on-keyboard as well as creative and process-focused, so the ideal candidate has a deep understanding of how today’s digital ecosystem thrives AND a penchant for getting into the weeds.

Position Summary

The Director, Digital Marketing will lead a team responsible for optimizing and executing digital marketing initiatives across email, SMS, SEO, and paid media. This role focuses on enhancing digital engagement, driving traffic, and increasing revenue through data-driven strategies and personalized communication for all lines of business (New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans, etc.). The position will report to the Senior Director of Brand Marketing.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leadership & Teamwork
    • Lead the Saints’ and Pelicans’ digital strategy planning, execution and reporting across paid digital advertising (Social, Search, Display, Video), SEO, email marketing, SMS and digital lead generation.
    • Lead and mentor a digital team, including in-house specialists and our marketing agency partner, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
    • Work with our talented in-house creatives (video, motion, static) to develop impactful digital marketing assets.
    • Manage the digital marketing budget and digital vendor relationships for both teams.


  • Performance Marketing Vision & Execution
    • Develop an omni-channel strategy to target and cultivate digital leads to help us achieve our ambitious single game, season ticket and partnership revenue goals, and increase brand awareness.
    • Design a science-based “test and learn” framework to continuously optimize performance across every channel of the digital ecosystem, and share learnings on a regular basis.
    • Monitor and analyze digital channel performance including open rates, click-through rates, traffic, conversions, and customer acquisition costs, to inform strategic adjustments.


  • Audience Development & Customer Journeys
    • Collaborate with marketing colleagues in organic social, site, app, content and product marketing to develop a full-funnel customer journey strategy that moves fans through points of initial acquisition, engagement and conversion.
    • Oversee the charge to grow our database of fans and first party data as we contend with a cookie-less world.
    • Work closely with the Business Intelligence team to build segments and fan profiles from the behavioral and demographic data flowing into our warehouse.


  • Innovation
    • Explore emerging communication channels and technologies, including AI tools, to expand digital engagement capabilities.
    • Identify new opportunities for strategic digital partnerships and traffic growth.
    • Become a thought leader by developing a deep understanding for the business of sports and the behaviors of sports fans.
What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years of professional experience in performance marketing or digital advertising; ideally at a digital agency or a large consumer brand; past work in sports & entertainment marketing also a plus
  • Highly adaptable, with the skills, demeanor and confidence to thrive in a (very) fast-paced environment
  • Deep understanding of performance marketing channels including Meta, YouTube, Google Display, SEO, SEM, email and SMS
  • Skilled in digital automation tools (Eloqua, Adobe Marketing Cloud, Salesforce, Hubspot, Marketo, etc.)
  • Experience with building customer segments and profiles
  • People management and agency management experience
  • Fascination with technology and how businesses can make emerging tech actionable
  • Solid writing skills, both for communication to avid fans or colleagues
  • Strong presentation skills -- adept at presenting customer journeys, campaign results and out-of-the-box ideas to the VPs and C-Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or relating field
