A Snapshot Of What You'll Do

The Sr. Strategic Sourcing & Purchasing associate is responsible for driving the sourcing and purchase of mechanical and/or electronic parts directly associated with Anton Paar’s production. A successful Strategic Sourcing Lead on our team will source and partner with vendors that deliver competitive pricing, high-quality material and on-time delivery: The Sr. Strategic Sourcing & Purchasing job duties include:

• Negotiate pricing and terms to buy mechanical and/or electronic components and systems from domestic and international suppliers
• Complete ownership of category and vendors with a focus on delivering results with limited supervision and guidance
• Collaborating closely with Quality, Research and Development, Planning & Production and Sustaining Engineering teams
  
  

The Impact You’ll Make

A successful Sr. Strategic Sourcing & Purchasing associate on our team will bring strong negotiation skills, time management, and problem-solving capabilities. Job duties include:

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for MRO, electrical and mechanical categories (BOM-level)
• Lead end-to-end supplier negotiations, contract management, and terms
• Identify and onboard new suppliers to support cost, quality, and lead time targets
• Conduct strategic activities related to the purchase process including cost optimization, capacity management, long term agreements, improving supplier performance
• Drive supplier performance improvement through regular QBRs, scorecards, and audits
• Monitor market trends and material costs to anticipate risk and leverage opportunities
• Conduct should-cost analysis, total cost of ownership analysis, RFQs/RFPs, and TCO evaluations
• Communicate and promptly resolving any supply issues, which may pose a risk or impact to business operations
• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key suppliers to support continuous supply while negotiating to ensure competitive pricing and service
• Partner with Planning, R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to support NPI and cost-down initiatives
• Consult with R&D during the development of new instruments to ensure competitiveness of future instruments by eliminating possible future supply issues of components (preventing single source, easier manufacturability, including off-the-shelf components, choosing reliable suppliers etc.)

Education And Experience

The Sr. Strategic Sourcing & Purchasing associate typically requires a combination of education, training, certifications and skills. This role requires the following:

• Strong Negotiation Skills with proven experience delivering cost savings
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, or a technical area (mechanical engineering / mechatronics / industrial engineering) Business or related discipline or equivalent years of experience in purchasing environment
• 5 – 10+ years of strategic sourcing experience with strong emphasis in strategic decision making
• Proven experience using SAP’s MM module
• Proven ability to analyze material demand to determine the most cost-effective supply
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time restrictions
• Great attention to detail
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience with scientific instrumentation
• Experience in a manufacturing or high-mix low-volume environment preferred
• Technical skills suitable for facilitating technical reviews and reading schematics
• Deep knowledge of electrical and mechanical components sourcing
• Proven negotiation and supplier management experience (including cost reduction success)
• Strong analytical and financial skills (cost models, price breakdowns, TCO)

What We Do

Anton Paar QuantaTec manufactures instruments for characterization of powders and porous materials using techniques like physisorption, chemisorption, gas pycnometry, mercury intrusion porosimetry, capillary flow porometry amongst others.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, observe, communicate and handle items such as computers, machinery and other equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Position requires the ability to obtain a Passport for international travel.
