As a not-for- profit organization, Lutheran Social Ministries of Maryland operates two Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs).
We currently have an opportunity for a Director of Facilities at our Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant (LVMG) community in Ellicott City, Maryland. The Director of Facilities will be responsible for leading all facets of our maintenance, housekeeping, security and laundry operations. This position will report to the community Executive Director.

- Direct and manage all Environmental Services and Maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical and fire protection systems, life safety, system engineering, building maintenance, Security, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Transportation services.
- Maintain consistency by providing efficient, effective operating procedures for general and preventative maintenance.
- Oversee the use of our Maintenance Management Software System, to manage work orders, assets, inventory, space, utilization and compliance tasks.
- Manage expenses through knowledge of budgetary expenditures.
- Hire, train and supervise team members within the Facilities department as needed.
- Maintain compliance with requirements for Department of Health, Life Safety and OSHA standards as they relate to Facilities Management to ensure a safe and efficient working environment essential to the performance of LVMG quality service
- Oversee all construction work and other core services, and/or logistics of business/operations.
- Ensure the facility is survey ready at all times in order to meet safety protocol standards.
- 5+ years Facilities management experience CCRC or Hospitality environment.
- Related certifications or licensures preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, structural, fire protection, safety systems, civil, low voltage, demolition, architectural and energy management.
- Previous supervisory and management experience including hiring, coaching performance management and daily operations supervision.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Competent in organizational time management skills and demonstrate good judgement, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Staff development and team building experience.
