Tentative Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:30a-6p

The Teen REACH Coordinator will report to the Senior Program Director of Youth Development and will provide engagement and support in delivering quality youth development programs designed to enrich the lives of middle, and high school students through the Teen Reach after school program, summer day camp, life skills, recreation, academic enrichment, career building, character education, and service learning. The Teen Outreach Coordinator understands character development is a chief mission of the YMCA and personally exhibits a commitment to this goal in all YMCA operations. They will work with and be accessible to the volunteers/parents and youth participants in the DHS Teen REACH Program.

Requirements

  • Ensure the health, safety and well-being of participants in the youth development and camp programs, by providing close supervision of all activities, and ensuring spaces are clean and supplies are well maintained.
  • Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and training for program staff, youth interns, and
  • apprentices.
  • Plan, create, design, and facilitate all in person lesson plans and implementation for all youth programs or team projects.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff required.
  • Create schedules, timelines and detailed outlines for all youth staff and programming.
  • Coordinates and supervises the day-to-day activities of program staff, youth interns, and apprentices
  • Tracks and documents program sessions with sign in sheets, detailed notes, photos, & any other means deemed appropriate.
  • Leads evaluations of program staff and evaluations of interns/apprentices in collaboration with program staff
  • Maintains & expands effective collaborative relationships with schools, organizations, etc. and serves as liaison between youth, program staff, and management.
  • Monitors program activities; reviews, prepares and submits program reports; to any funding agencies supporting this program
  • Preferred knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Responsible for intake of enrollment and registration, data collection of demographics
  • Manage administrative data entry in various systems including Daxko, E-Cornerstone, QPSA, coordination of participant paperwork, conducting program surveys, and all other requirements outlined by the YMCA’s Teen Standards and Program Charts of Work.
  • Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, compassion, and encouragement.
  • Develop positive relationships with the participants, and their family members.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments.
  • Create an environment that is diverse, culturally sensitive, age-appropriate, and relevant to the needs of middle school age students, and teens.
  • Assist in fund development endeavors for the Youth Development department.
  • Understand, maintain, and ensure that participants follow Risk Management and safety
  • Adhere to all Department of Health, Greater Peoria Family YMCA expectations and regulations.
  • Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events, as appropriate.
  • Other activities and duties as needed address the ongoing health and well-being of our staff and members.
  • Designs and grows family engagement programming while increasing member involvement. Models the importance of building connections among staff, members, program participants and volunteers.
  • Is an effective listener when interacting with staff, members, and volunteers. Ensures that staff have opportunities to develop their own listening skills.
  • Helps to leads the charge in recruitment and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops the team for success.
  • Assist the Senior Program Director of Youth Development in managing youth development & camp programs, including design, curriculum planning, scheduling, and supervision and monitoring of all aspects of these programs. Must be able to show attentiveness towards the budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Provide direction and communication feedback to counselors regarding related issues as well as administrative issues and decisions.
  • Have the ability to understand and compile program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented Family & Teen Programs.
  • Assists with annual campaign activities.
  • Other duties as assigned in helping and assisting supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in related field or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Two years of direct supervisory experience with child, youth or family programming preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Independent thinking, planning, and organizational skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to relate to young people AND keep a professional distance
  • A self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Mandated Reporter, YMCA Youth Work Training, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific training.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Salary Description

$18.25-20/hour
