Department Overview

The Communications and Marketing team supports internal communication and employee engagement projects throughout RiverStone Health, including emergency risk communications. Communications and Marketing is an essential part of achieving RiverStone Health’s strategic goals of being an Employer of Choice, Partner of Choice and Provider of Choice across our community.

Job Summary

The RiverStone Health Internal Communications, Engagement and Culture Coordinator position leads and facilitates employee engagement across the organization as the RiverStone Organizational Culture Team (ROCT) leader and creates and edits print and digital products to support internal organizational communication. This position also coordinates with organizational leaders to identify and prioritize organizational strategies and goals that align with employee engagement, wellbeing and internal communications efforts.

Essential Functions/Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Engagement and Culture Coordinator Duties 45%
  • Expand opportunities and facilitate employee engagement from all levels of organization to strengthen RiverStone Health’s desired organizational culture and employee wellbeing.
  • Develop strategies to improve employee engagement and wellbeing through engaging and effective initiatives ensuring relevance across the organization.
  • Manage and coordinate with RiverStone Organizational Culture Team (ROCT) committees, including reviewing all invoices and submitting to fiscal services for approval.
  • Monitor and maintain ROCT annual budget, communicating with committee chairs regarding any discrepancies or questions, recruiting and coaching new ROCT committee members and affinity group chairs, to ensure efficient and effective transition of leadership.
  • Work with organizational leaders to identify and prioritize opportunities to improve organizational culture and wellbeing and further employee engagement throughout the organization, ensuring that engagement opportunities are aligned with organizational strategies and goals.
  • Develop committee-specific annual workplans and key performance indicators.
  • Effectively partner with staff and committees focused on topics of culture to assure continuity and consensus with established goals and objectives.
  • Coaches current and future organizational managers, directors and leaders on the importance of culture leadership, high performing organizations, and just culture role modeling
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, may assist Training Coordinator with cultural aspects of New Employee Orientation (NEO) including, but not limited to, speakers’ schedules and coaching new presenters’ content and presentation skills.
  • Closely work with Human Resources to coordinate and implement employee engagement surveys and performance management processes for continuous monitoring and improvement.
  • Support and model behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of our organization.
  • Assists managers and directors with fostering a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Implement recognition programs that reinforce values-based behaviors.
  • Build feedback mechanisms that strengthen cultural norms & core values.
  • Internal Communications Coordination Duties 45%
  • Develop storytelling initiatives that celebrate organizational culture wins.
  • Maintains responsibility for tracking and coordinating responses to ‘suggestion box’ and receives committee suggestions for improvements, closely engaging Organizational Improvement & Project Management teams when appropriate.
  • Create and edit photos, digital and print design materials to support internal communication.
  • Write, edit and distribute monthly employee newsletter.
  • Review text, design and images in marketing and other communications documents for accuracy, readability, professional design and RiverStone Health brand standards.
  • Create, test, and implement effective communication strategies attentive to internal target audiences.
  • Helps communicate organizational strategy across the organization, focusing efforts on ensuring RiverStone Health remains an Employer of Choice.
  • Ensure the accuracy of public information materials, including internal communications.
  • Present information to target audiences in an objective, honest and non-judgmental manner; deliver oral and written communications with clarity and impact.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships in all service lines across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of emergency risk communication concepts and principles through training, selected readings, and course materials.
  • Participate in emergency response trainings and special events. may be delegated responsibility for communicating to staff during an incident or event.
  • Inform direct supervisor and other leaders of current or potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
  • Travel to satellite clinics and events
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions and review publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current of principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.
  • Non-Essential Functions ≥10%
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of RiverStone Health’s mission and goals.

Education And Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years of communications or organizational culture leadership experience.
  • Photography and/or graphic design experience
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite or similar software
  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, broadcast journalism, marketing, public health, human resources, organizational development, organizational psychology or a related field.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid Montana driver's license
  • Proof of vehicle insurance
  • Required to obtain on-the-job training in Incident Command System courses 100, 200, 700, 300, 400 as well as basic PIO training.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Proficiency in culture assessment tools and methodologies
  • Experience with employee feedback and analytics platforms
  • Understanding of behavioral science and habit formation
  • Familiarity with lean/six-sigma and change management frameworks
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and communications platforms (Meta, LinkedIn, Constant Contact)
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.

Supervision

  • Indirect supervision of committee leaders and project leads.
  • No direct supervision of staff.

Physical Demands And Working Conditions

  • Work is mainly done on a computer and on site at RiverStone Health locations, up to 8 hours per day.
  • Occasional day travel required where expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, other vehicles, etc. Travel occurs in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Create and maintain a safe/secure working environment by adhering to safety, security, and health requirements. Integrates injury, illness, and loss prevention into job activities by attending any necessary training and implementing best practices.

Freedom To Act & Decision Making

Communications & Networking

  • Daily written and verbal communication with RiverStone Health staff and external sources.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Manage a budget of approximately $20,000-$30,000 annually for ROCT and Employee Appreciation.
