About Adolescent Wellness Academy (AWA)

Adolescent Wellness Academy (AWA) is a Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and virtual treatment program for adolescents and their families. Our Kendall location provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and family-centered care to teens navigating emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. Our approach integrates individual therapy, family systems work, creative group modalities, and compassionate clinical structure to help teens build insight, resilience, and meaningful relationships.

Role Summary

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Primary Therapist to join our Kendall clinical team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, values team collaboration, and is deeply committed to supporting adolescent mental health. As a Primary Therapist, you’ll carry a full caseload, work closely with families, and play an integral role in facilitating group therapy and supporting overall treatment goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of adolescent clients enrolled in PHP and/or IOP
  • Facilitate weekly individual therapy sessions, with family sessions as clinically indicated
  • Provide ongoing support to caregivers, including psychoeducation, family dynamics work, and crisis intervention
  • Lead or co-lead daily group therapy sessions (creative, experiential, or DBT/Coping focused)
  • Collaborate with the clinical team on treatment planning, progress monitoring, and discharge coordination
  • Attend daily clinical team meetings and contribute to a strong interdisciplinary team culture
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, session notes, and discharge summaries
  • Participate in clinical trainings, team-building activities, and occasional parent/community events

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology
  • Active Florida licensure or registered intern status (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent)
  • Experience working with adolescents and/or families
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, adolescent development, and therapeutic boundaries
  • Comfort leading therapy groups and engaging teens in a creative and meaningful way
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Team player mindset with a flexible and collaborative approach

Preferred

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Experience in PHP/IOP or higher levels of care
  • Familiarity with DBT, family systems, expressive arts, or experiential therapies
