As we scale from 100 to 150+ employees, we are seeking a confident and strategic VP of People who can shape, lead, and execute our people strategy while embodying and reinforcing BizzyCar’s leadership principles and core values.

Role Overview

The VP of People will be a key executive leader responsible for developing people, elevating performance, and shaping a culture of accountability, growth, and innovation. This is not an HR Manager role. This individual must be fluent in how AI can enhance people operations and should be comfortable creating content—from internal communications to employee development materials.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive team, leaning into hiring, organizational development, and building leadership capabilities across the company. We're seeking a strategic leader who can operate at the executive level, but who also enjoys getting into the details and making things happen.

Key Responsibilities

People & Culture Development

  • Champion BizzyCar’s core values and leadership principles, embedding them into performance reviews, development plans, and team rituals.
  • Lead performance management, employee feedback systems, and career pathing programs.
  • Actively create content: employee communications, onboarding frameworks, training modules, leadership playbooks, and more.
  • Build and maintain a high-accountability, high-autonomy culture where team members can thrive and grow.

Strategic People Leadership

  • Develop and execute a forward-thinking people strategy aligned with BizzyCar’s business growth.
  • Serve as a sounding board for the CEO and exec team, offering insight into org design, leadership development, team dynamics, and employee engagement.
  • Incorporate AI tools and automation to streamline workflows, improve HR efficiency, and enable smarter decision-making.

Talent Acquisition & Growth

  • Oversee recruiting processes and personally engage in hiring for senior and critical roles.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure exceptional candidate experience, interview rigor, and team fit.
  • Develop a scalable, repeatable talent funnel that supports rapid headcount growth.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Lead all facets of HR including policies, compliance, employee relations, benefits, and compensation frameworks.
  • Ensure processes and documentation are audit-ready and legally sound.
  • Maintain and optimize internal HR systems and tools for growth and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive HR/People leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a B2B SaaS or tech startup.
  • Demonstrated success leading at the VP or Senior Director level in a high-growth SaaS environment.
  • SHRM-SCP certification required.
  • Deep experience in performance management, talent development, and cultural leadership.
  • Strong communication and content creation skills – both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with or willingness to adopt AI-driven people tools and workflows.
  • Executive-level presence, with maturity, confidence, and EQ to partner with C-level peers.
  • Available to be in-office 3–5 days/week.
  • Must live within 50-miles of St. Louis - MO, Boston - MA, Chicago - IL, or Denver - CO.

Nice to Have

  • Background in coaching, facilitation, or leadership development programs.
  • Hands-on experience implementing people analytics or AI-enhanced HR solutions (e.g., talent intelligence, chatbots, automated onboarding flows).
  • Familiarity with tools like Lattice, BambooHR, Notion, or other content systems.
