This role oversees company-wide safety programs, metrics, and analytics and is responsible for aligning the organization’s safety practices with business goals. The Safety Manager will lead a high-performing team and partner cross-functionally with Operations, Risk, HR, and Executive Leadership to drive safety performance through data-driven insights and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Lead and evolve the company-wide safety strategy, integrating analytics and continuous improvement to support business goals and drive a proactive safety culture.
- Oversee the development and implementation of site-specific safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with CAL/OSHA, federal, and local regulations.
- Design and manage safety analytics, dashboards, and KPIs; track leading and lagging indicators; perform trend analysis and present findings to the Executive Safety Committee.
- Develop strategic safety plans, including long-term goals, key initiatives, and benchmarks for improvement across all regions.
- Conduct regular data reviews and lead Root Cause Analyses on incidents and near misses; implement preventive and corrective actions based on findings.
- Oversee environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs and ensure full compliance across all offices and worksites.
- Partner with Risk Management and HR to support injury case management, workers’ compensation strategies, and return-to-work programs.
- Lead a high-impact Safety team, responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance development of safety personnel.
- Develop and facilitate safety education, including safety orientations, toolbox talks, and specialized training aligned with strategic initiatives.
- Audit field and facility operations, including regular inspections of field locations.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to identify bottlenecks and propose scalable solutions to improve field and site safety practices.
- Track and report incident trends, compliance status, and risk indicators; maintain accurate documentation and regulatory registers.
- Facilitate Executive Safety Committee meetings, report findings, and recommend improvements.
- Lead or support incentive and employee engagement programs that promote safety awareness and recognition.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, including updates to IIPP and all sub-programs.
- Perform other strategic or operational duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bi-lingual Spanish required (read and write proficiently).
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing a safety team in a construction or field operations environment.
- OSHA 10, 30, 500, CSM/CSP or similar certifications strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise safety strategies and analytics/KPIs.
- Strong knowledge of CAL/OSHA and relevant local/state/federal safety regulations.
- Proficiency in writing safety policies and delivering training content.
- Demonstrated experience with data analysis and safety reporting; strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility and relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Experience managing environmental compliance programs a plus.
