Job Summary

  • Provides, or assists in providing, monitoring psycho-social rehabilitation services with residents of the facility. Services may include, but are not limited to, monitoring of residents, behavioral tracking, crisis management/assistance, group/activity facilitation and clerical assistance.


Qualifications

  • Must possess an Associate’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
  • Must have a minimum of six months experience working with the mentally ill (or similar) population.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be willing to work harmoniously with all personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with facility personnel, residents, family members, visitors, consultants, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
  • Must possess excellent communication abilities through listening, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Must be able to maintain an appropriately professional manner in intense and/or crisis situations.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Must be free of physical limitation so as to be able to participate in physical C.P.I. (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) techniques as trained by a certified trainer.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B virus


Essential Functions

  • Prepare and provide clinically relevant interventions.
  • Intervene with problematic and disruptive behaviors.
  • Respond to crisis per facility policy and procedure.
  • Follow and help maintain and enforce all facility rules and regulations.
  • Complete all documentation as required by federal, state, local and facility requirements.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs and in-services, as provided.
  • Report all signs of resident abuse or neglect.
  • Respect and enforce all resident rights.
  • Maintain personal and professional high standards of practice.
  • Observe, track, and intervene with behaviors displayed by residents through the behavioral tracking system.
  • Provide group/activity sessions as indicated.
  • Assist in providing crisis management services, which may include the use of C.P.I. (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) techniques as trained by a certified trainer.
  • Document interventions, contacts, and provision of services.
  • Review relevant behavioral reports daily and follow-up as needed.
  • Assist other departments in managing resident behaviors and providing services to residents.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
