Position Summary:
The Senior Insurance Coordinator plays a key role in managing the company's property and liability insurance portfolios, ensuring comprehensive coverage for all assets and operations. This position oversees the administration of insurance claims, policy renewals, and compliance with regulatory and contractual insurance requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in the nuances of insurance as it relates to property management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of property, liability, and other corporate insurance policies.
- Ensure timely renewal of insurance policies and accurate tracking of coverage for all owned and managed properties.
- Review leases, vendor contracts, and lender agreements to verify insurance requirements are met.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for insurance brokers, carriers, property managers, and legal counsel.
- File and manage insurance claims, including gathering documentation, coordinating with adjusters, and tracking resolutions.
- Maintain and update the insurance certificate database (COIs) and ensure all third parties remain compliant.
- Assist with insurance audits, underwriting requests, and internal reporting.
- Identify and recommend risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Risk Management team.
- Support the budgeting process by forecasting insurance premiums and claim reserves.
- Train and support junior staff or regional team members on insurance-related procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, insurance regulations, and emerging risk trends.
Qualifications:
- Required Experience:
- 3-5+ years in insurance coordination or risk management, preferably in the property management or real estate industry.
- Strong understanding of property and casualty insurance policies, claims processing, and risk mitigation.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field preferred.
- Professional certifications (e.g., ARM, CIC, CRM) a plus.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with insurance or Yardi software is a plus.
