Duties And Responsibilities
The production planner is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and optimize the company’s productive capacity, as well as managing inventory levels. Acts on order releases, action messages, and exception notifications from the company system.

- As an MRP Planner, you will be responsible for developing daily and weekly production schedules to ensure production deadlines are met#
- Analyze sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements. Manage inventory levels, schedules, and availability of selected items —whether manufactured or purchased —to meet production schedules.
- Provides CS with shipping and delivery date information. Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department, and supervisors on material status and production planning issues.
- Proven experience with ERP systems and a thorough understanding of MRP processes
- Utilize ERP solutions effectively and demonstrate a solid understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to streamline operations
- Production Planning: Ensure adequate stock levels for both finished goods and manufactured items with bills of materials and sub-assemblies, coordinating closely with production teams
- Use MPS/MRP in ERP System to drive materials planning and ordering of raw materials
- Adjust production schedules as needed to meet changing demands and deadlines
- Monitor and reconcile MRP exception messages
- Effectively manage and control the complex and dynamic Bills of Material (BOMs) including dual source raw materials and substitute materials
- Effectively plan rework into new production to help mitigate obsoletion risk to the business
- Accountable for maintaining the integrity of MRP planning parameters (costing lot size, lead times, days of supply, etc.)
- Provide data for Key Performance Metrics (root causes of back orders and excess/expired inventory, schedule compliance, projected inventory at risk/stock loss, etc.)
- Key contact responsible for the accurate reporting of product status for back orders
- Complete inventory adjustments (quantities that are added to or taken out of SAP
- Check available inventory, confirm shipments with Customer Service.
- Communicate with Customer Service on delays/conflicts in meeting orders.
- Monitor SAP for customer sales orders entered by customer service.
- Notify CS of lot #’s for shipments, enabling CS to invoice customers.
- Error handling (correct any batches that show on the COGI screen)
- Maintain and control all MMRs for all Bulk loads shipping out – next day & inventory control. Work with purchasing to ensure that the proper amount of material is ordered.
- Place commodity production orders as needed.
- Work on weekly utility and production reports as requested by the Plant Manager.
- Manage an accurate inventory of warehouse materials.
- Receive all raw materials & finished goods into SAP that have been ordered by the Purchasing Dept.
- Manage new product introduction (NPI) and production line cutover activities to ensure continuity of supply
- Associates degree.
- 2 to 7 years of experience in a production planning/materials controls function or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of SAP is required.
- Problem Solving/Analysis.
- Technical capacity and communication proficiency.
- Decision making and collaboration Skills.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check, pre-placement physical and pre-employment drug-screen.
- Associates degree.
- 2 to 7 years of experience in a production planning/materials controls function or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of SAP is required.
