Job Overview

Ovation is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Training and Development to lead training, talent development, and performance optimization across the entire Ovation brand, with a focused mandate to elevate property operations & maintenance teams.

This in-office Las Vegas-based role will own the full employee lifecycle from onboarding through exit, with a mission to transform training into a competitive advantage.

Beyond property operations, this leader will architect a scalable, enterprise-wide employee experience across all Ovation verticals, supporting consistent onboarding, robust career development, and leadership readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Learning & Development Strategy

  • Design and deliver a scalable, high-impact training strategy focused on leasing, operations, maintenance, customer service, compliance, systems, leadership, and operational excellence.
  • Lead development and delivery of training across multiple formats: in-person, virtual, e-learning, and microlearning.
  • Partner with leadership and key stakeholders to assess training needs, create targeted development programs, and ensure alignment with company performance goals.
  • Innovate training content using adult learning principles and cutting-edge platforms.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness using participant feedback, assessments, and operational KPIs to continuously improve offerings.
  • Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive maintenance training path that supports technician development from entry-level to leadership, ensuring alignment with operational standards, safety compliance, and evolving property needs.

Performance Optimization

  • Oversee and fine-tune employee performance and training management systems
  • Monitor and analyze employee performance metrics, sales effectiveness, employee satisfaction, resident satisfaction, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with Regional and Community Managers, Maintenance team, and the Construction and Development teams to identify and address performance gaps through coaching and custom action plans.
  • Conduct on-site visits to evaluate property execution, identify improvement opportunities, and deliver hands-on performance coaching.
  • Leverage performance data and analytics dashboards to inform training initiatives, measure results, and spotlight success stories.
  • Lead rollout and adoption of strategic initiatives, including post-implementation training and performance tracking.

Leadership & Organizational Impact

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on training, talent readiness, and performance trends.
  • Manage and mentor regional trainer and learning team members.
  • Support change management initiatives, including new system implementations and organizational culture programs.
  • Represent Ovation’s learning brand internally and externally - fostering a strong culture of development and career growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Human Resources, or related field required; advanced degree or certifications in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, or HR preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in multifamily housing operations, learning & development, and performance consulting.
  • Deep knowledge of apartment operations, including leasing, budgeting, compliance, and customer service.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with performance data, dashboards, and improvement planning.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Trakstar or other performance management system, and property management platforms (e.g., Onesite, Knock, etc.); Grace Hill or other LMS experience highly desirable.
