Your impact
We’re looking for a mid-level UX designer with 3-5 years of experience to join our Digital and Data team within our Federal and Environmental Advisory practice. This role is ideal for a designer with a strong background in designing simplified and communicative interfaces for complex data environments. The ideal candidate will have experience designing data analytics dashboards or decision support systems or working on projects for government entities. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, developers, and fellow designers to create intuitive, impactful user experiences that align with business and user needs.
This role may be performed in a hybrid capacity in any Jacobs office, or remotely if the distance is more than 60 miles.

Key Responsibilities
- Take projects from concept to completion, delivering well-documented and tested designs
- Lead user research initiatives to gather insights and define user needs to establish product requirements
- Develop wireframes, high-fidelity visuals, and interactive prototypes using Figma
- Ensure design consistency and scalability through design systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (product managers, engineers, stakeholders, subject-matter experts, and fellow designers) to define requirements, Translate them into specifications, and ensure successful implementation
- Clearly communicate design choices, rationale, and specifications to various stakeholders
- Identify and address design challenges, seeking feedback and considering alternative solutions
- Stay informed about industry best practices and trends to continuously improve design processes and outcomes.
Here's what you'll need
Technical Requirements
- Interaction Design Expertise in crafting seamless user interactions that enhance usability.
- Wireframing and Prototyping Advanced proficiencies in Figma to efficiently mockup wireframes that address user needs
- Information Architecture Ability to structure and organize complex data, screens, and user flows for intuitive navigation.
- Design Systems Experience creating, maintaining, or utilizing design systems to streamline processes and deliver consistency
- Accessibility & Inclusive Design Knowledge of WCAG guidelines and best practices to ensure usability for all users.
- Data Visualization Experience designing clear and effective data representations within analytics dashboards.
- Front-end Collaboration Familiarity with basic HTML/CSS and ability to communicate effectively with developers.
- User Research Experience in leading user research initiatives to gather insights and define user needs.
- Usability Testing Experience conducting user testing and refining designs based on feedback.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement Strong communication skills to present designs and effectively gather actionable feedback.
- Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving Ability to approach challenges and user pain points with creative and analytical solutions.
- Adaptability & Growth Mindset Willingness to learn new tools, trends, and industry best practices.
- Consulting Ability to advise stakeholders on digital product strategy and consulting on UX best practices for large-scale implementation.
- Understanding of Federal organizations and design constraints in government enterprise digital products.
- Familiarity with complex systems and workflows used in large organizations.
- Experience building dashboards or user interfaces in intelligence or mission-driven environments
- Experience with front-end development, GIS
- Experience or familiarity with Palantir
- TS clearance
