Description

We are currently seeking a Lead Utility Forester - Supervisor to support utility forestry operations in Northwestern Oregon. As Lead Utility Forester-Supervisor your office is the great outdoors! We keep the lights on anywhere there is a power line - whether in the city, the rural countryside, or deep in the remote forest.

As an ArborMetrics Lead Utility Forester-Arborist, you will keep communities informed about the trees and power lines while ensuring safe delivery of their power.

Job Type: Full Time

Locations: Salem, OR & Portland, OR

Travel: Greater Portland/Salem Areas

Pay:$39-$47/hr. (DOE & Credentials)

Schedule:5 – 8-hour day schedule, with possible 4-9-4 schedule

  • Overtime may be required as necessary or clients’ needs

What You Will Do

  • Oversee team of Contract Utility Foresters. The worker is responsible for coordinating day-today operations of other field employees. Includes but not limited to: Tracking assignment

progress, responding to questions, performing field visits, managing timesheets and tracking

completion timelines.

  • Worker is responsible for training new workers
  • The worker is responsible for auditing work for Q/A and Q/C, providing necessary corrective

actions, and performing necessary follow-up

  • Worker is responsible for responding to Client needs and provide ongoing communication as

needed

  • Audit completed utility vegetation inspection and/or planned field work for compliance with

Client’s specifications and procedures

  • Manage fleet, equipment, training and other internal company needs
  • Review and submit deliverables to client. Ensure work is consistent across regions
  • Exhibits experience and skills required to negotiate complaint resolutions
  • Inspect power line rights-of-way to assess vegetation conditions and determine required

maintenance activities based on client specifications

  • Maintenance planning activities including machine work, herbicide application, capital

projects, and unplanned response work. Worker completes plans thoroughly and with a high

level of accuracy.

  • Notify property owners of assessment being performed, when necessary.
  • Inform property owners of required vegetation management work and obtain necessary

permissions

  • Research and document property ownership for owner notifications
  • Document and record information with mobile device using GIS software
  • Operate with the highest level of personal and public safety.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by ArborMetrics or the client

What You Need To Have

  • 18+ Months experience in Utility Vegetation Management
  • ISA and/or Utility Specialist/TRAQ is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and Project Management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to represent Arbormetrics and its

services in a professional and positive manner.

  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem-solving

abilities, the ability to multi-task and attention to detail.

  • Independent decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have solid tree identification skills and the ability to read maps.
  • Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
  • Must have excellent computer skills

What Would Be Amazing To Have

  • Previous management or employee oversight experience
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in forestry, Environmental Science or related field preferred.
  • Previous Forester/Arboriculture/Tree Care working experience.
  • ISA, TRAQ, TCSP, or other VM related certifications.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility power lines; remote

locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, uneven, rough, steep terrain, hills, and slopes; exposure to noise, dust, grease, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions. PHYSICAL

The team member must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand, arm and shoulder movement in the performance of daily duties (e.g., forcefully beat down brush); carry, push and/or pull light to heavy amounts of weight, frequently lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. (sandbags); to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; ability to verbally communicate to exchange information with public; ability to see and hear in normal range with orwithout correction; operate assigned field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
