Staff Program Manager, PMO Portfolio Manager
Hybrid This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center in Warren, MI, or Milford Proving Ground in Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum. This position can be located at either of these locations.
The Role
As the PMO Portfolio Manager, your main role is to implement robust portfolio management processes in alignment with organizational goals and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have program management expertise and embody a proactive and pragmatic approach, tackling tasks with enthusiasm and a commitment to delivering results.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

The Role

The ideal candidate will have program management expertise and embody a proactive and pragmatic approach, tackling tasks with enthusiasm and a commitment to delivering results.
What You'll Do
- Execute robust portfolio management processes to achieve organizational goals and strategic objectives
- Facilitate inclusive meetings with attention to detail, accountability, and intentionality, ensuring the appropriate forum, cadence, and audience as well as documenting and following up on action plans
- Foster cross-functional collaboration, operating as a key partner for product and engineering, by employing strategic communication and influencing tactics to maximize collective impact
- Lead teams through change, fostering a culture of adaptability by adjusting project/program plans accordingly, and ensure appropriate communication to all stakeholders
- Collaborate with the PMO Operations team to create comprehensive documentation and training for deployed processes, as well as developing communication channels including dashboards and presentations
- Identify potential risks and key interdependencies, develop mitigation strategies, and action plans to address them
- Display professional courage by driving results with a sense of urgency, operating with efficiency
- Apply domain expertise across key functions (program, engineering, product, design), appropriate project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Lean), and strong business acumen
- Model transparent communication of project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate stakeholders and management channels
- Mentor and develop others, providing technical training and establishing effective mechanisms for knowledge-sharing
- Demonstrate initiative and autonomy in consistently seeking opportunities for improvements and innovation
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- BS in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Project Management or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of proven experience in project management / product management / portfolio management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication methods to enable effective work with business partners aiming to meet required mutual goals
- Demonstrated ability working through others and influencing without direct authority
- Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- PMP Certification
- Proficiency working with project management software tools (Jira, Jira Align, MS Project, Slack)
- 5+ years of experience working in an Agile or Hybrid program environment
