Responsibilities and Duties:
- Independently develops and qualifies methods to characterize potentially complex proteins and/or nucleic acids using traditional biochemical methods.
- Evaluates experimental model systems that facilitate understanding of how ALTA mitigates biomolecule degradation (hydrolysis, deamidation, disulfide shuffling, oxidation, etc).
- Performs biophysical and chemical characterizations and authors reports highlighting degradation pathways and conditions to be avoided.
- Works closely with Formulation development to support product development, regular testing, investigations, product release, and stability testing.
- Prepare and purify fluorescently labeled biomolecules or other actives that are suitable for use by others for in vivo and in vitro characterization of ALTA behavior.
- Assists in enriching or purifying partner-supplied biological molecules (antigens, mRNA or adjuvants)
- Helps train Product Research and Development staff to address project needs.
- Works effectively and dynamically in cross-functional teams to complete partner projects.
- Maintains equipment and ensures that methods and equipment are fit-for-purpose.
- Authors technical reports and contributes portions to IND or other regulatory filings.
- Adheres to Company policies and safety guidelines
- A PhD degree in Biophysical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or related field with dissertation research characterizing the behavior of biomolecules and systems is preferred for the Scientist level. Masters degree with 2 years or Bachelor degree with 5 years of relevant industrial experience will be considered.
- A Masters degree or Bachelors degree with 2 years of relevant industrial experience is preferred for the research associate (RA) level.
- Must be able to perform the responsibilities and duties listed above
- Analytical training in the characterization of biomolecules using chromatographic, spectroscopic, electrophoretic, and calorimetric methods required for diverse analytes including but not limited to complex proteins, glycoproteins, VLPs, nucleic acids including messenger mRNA (mRNA), and/or small molecule or lipid-based adjuvants.
